We hiked the window trail the first afternoon & did the South Rim trail the second day. After each hike we relaxed with a good hot meal at the Basin Restaurant. Nighttime was super peaceful & the stargazing is amazing! We love it at BBNP!!

It’s an alright campground. Beautiful setting for sure. The problem is there are SO many rules. No campfires, no generators, no lights after dark… and they’ll actually hassle you about it. The campsite hosts I’m sure are just doing their job (and are actually very nice once you get to know them) but man if I wanted to be hassled about rules I’d go to my parents’ house. If you’re a legit camper and want peace and quiet, I’d go elsewhere.
Also site 007 is awful. There’s a water drain next to it that beeps loudly whenever anyone uses the bathroom or sink

Campsite was efficient. The sites were a little closer to each other than I prefer the camp ground host came down and gave a slightly terrifying warning about the wild life there that kind of scared my kids… we never saw or heard any such wildlife.
The site did accommodate our large 8 person tent.
We do want to go back to big bend! We will maybe try a different campground though. This one is pretty far from the Rio grande and we would have liked to be closer to the river I believe.

Great place to visit. Amazing scenery. Clean campgrounds. Made a complain on a campground park worker. Coming really early in the morning and accusing my son that he was washing dishes and left debris in the bathroom sink. Never let me talk just accused me and said “ this is just a fair warning”. Son never left debris in sink. Many others came in there and did the same but decided he wanted to be a hero in front of his lady partner. Slim native american or hispanic guy with glasses.

Park Rangers are very helpful, helped us plan our trip to Santa Elena Canyon, Rio Grande Village, and to Boquillas Port of Entry. Ranger at Boquillas Port of Entry helped me get my Fanny pack back, since I left it at the PJ gas station restroom, I picked it up at PJ headquarters the next day, and everything was in my Fanny pack, we were very impressed with the honesty in the Park.

What can I say? It’s Chisos Basin!
Anyone who has stayed before, will agree, it is one of the best places to camp in Big Bend.

Site 30 is an excellent spot. Somewhat secluded and convenient to both restrooms and hiking trails

Definitely worth staying in Chisos Basin. The night sky views were fantastic, though you may need to give the clouds time to clear. If you plan to make the hike to Emory Peak, don't expect it to be like your average trail experience. (Don't forget to BYO toilet paper for the latrine) It was worth it, but we felt it the entire way back. Seeing a black bear did help make the return hike more enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful and we couldn't have asked for a better start to our anniversary trip.

Amazing scenery, incredible star gazing. And we saw 3 different bears while out in the basin away from the campground. A lot of fun.
