Campsites are tight if you have a big tent. Night time star gazing was fantastic.

This is an especially beautifully situated campground, surrounded on all sides by the Chisos mountains with access to an extensive trail system. It is quiet and the night sky is fabulous. Bathrooms were always spotless. The staff at the visitor center are knowledgeable and friendly.

Site #60 has a beautiful view. Around 5 min walk to the bathroom/dish washing station. The campground can hold 2 tents on each side of the picnic table (we had 4 person tents on each side). You can maybe get away with another larger tent in the larger area in front of the table but the ground is sloped more and may not be as comfortable. Would definitely choose this spot again especially for a larger group.

Incredible beauty all around. It was nice to have a place to wash dishes but without hot water it was tough

Severe grade, small site and snarky camp hostess had me seeking other accommodations.

I was unexpectedly pleased about the beauty of the campsite. The bathrooms are a little outdated, but very convenient to the campsites.

As expected, Chisos Basin Campground in Big Bend National Park offers stunning views and a serene atmosphere. The surrounding mountains create a dramatic backdrop, especially at sunrise and sunset, making it a camper’s paradise. However, what truly set this experience apart for us were the incredible camp hosts and maintenance crew.
From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted and provided with helpful information about park conditions, wildlife safety, and campground rules. The staff’s dedication and genuine passion for the area were clear, and it felt like we had a team of experts ensuring our stay was safe and enjoyable.
The campsites themselves were immaculate, with every detail attended to. I was impressed to see the staff cleaning out the charcoal from our grill each morning—going above and beyond to maintain the cleanliness of the site. The restroom facilities were also well-maintained, which made our stay even more comfortable.
Whether you’re an avid hiker looking to explore the nearby trails or simply want to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery, this campground is a fantastic choice. And with a staff that treats you like a valued guest, it truly stands out among National Park campgrounds. Highly recommend!
