We loved Chisos Basin Loop 1, Site 16! The view through “the window” and looking up at Casa Grande from our table was amazing. It wasn’t a level site for our tent, but we made it work. The bathrooms were fine and the camp host was very helpful. In hot May, this was the only place to camp in Big Bend. It was a long drive to Rio Grande Village to shower, which was a disappointment and it was so hot there, we understood why camping in that campground was kept to a minimum. We’ll be back someday, but it will be during the winter when it is cooler there.

Excellent campsite and camp hosts! However there are no showers!! Very disappointed in that but that is the only complaint! Super cool place to set up a tent!

The rangers were the nicest people oh my gosh. Broke a piece of my car lol. Don’t drive into the boulders bordering the campsites. Highly recommend if hiking the basin rims and the place to stay for Colima Warbler.

Beautiful campsite. We usually stay in Terlingua but wanted to stay in the basin this time to stargaze at any given time. Really close to the bathrooms. The camp hosts are super friendly and made us feel welcome.

I think 21 is the best tent site. It does get very windy here. The facilities are all kept clean and the volunteers and hosts were wonderful and knowledgeable.
