We’ve been camping at Double lake for over 25 years and this was my first time back in about 8 years. It is still a nice place to go that’s close to home but I was a little disappointed about some things. First, I wish they would stock the lake with fish even if it’s catch and release. No one was catching anything but lily pads. There was a host on staff that was very responsive and glad to see they sell ice and fire wood, but years back they would have a park ranger doing activities with the kids. They also used to rent canoes and paddle boats but that is no longer the case. The shower at our bathroom was out of order. Over, we would come back for a short stay.

The kids and I had a wonderful time kayaking, fishing, mountain biking, and hammocking.

We were pleasantly surprised at the cleaniness of the bathrooms. Also the hosts were very helpful and considerate. We had initially started to set up in the area between Group campsites J and I. Fortunately they came by before we had our tents set up and we were able to move without a lot of hassle. The boundaries between campsites could be better marked to prevent this in the future. I called Ranger Craig several times with questions about group campsites since we were a large group with several additional day use participants. He was very friendly and helpful in understanding the facilities so we could have a positive camping experience.

Great place to camp. Been here a few times for a few solo camp outings. Last time we came with a group of people and they all love the area. Clean restrooms with running warm water. Nice location for a swim. Plenty of space to fish and boat on. So many trails to walk or bike on.

This is my kid's favorite camping site. Nice and quaint, love the walk around the lake. There's a place to swim, fish, lots of hikinf trails and biking trails. This weekend was a little cold, cloudy and windy, but we still had a great time. It's also so close to Houston!
