What Guests Are Saying
Double Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful and clean park set in a tranquil wooded environment, ideal for hiking and biking. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful hosts, well-maintained sites, and clean restrooms. While some facilities need updates and there's limited fishing due to lily pads, the overall experience is positive, making it a popular getaway spot close to Houston.

Great campground, wonderful camp hosts. Site #1 is extremely sloped, not suited for my Class B RV, so Host got me switched to Site #8 which is flatter and one of a number of first-come-first-served non-reservable sites. There are fantastic hike/bike trails surrounding this lake. Biked all the trails over my 3-day stay. Very peaceful.

Fantastic campground, great camp hosts. Site #15 was not suitable for my Class B RV, so Host switched me to site #8, much flatter driveway, one of several first-come-first-served non-reservable sites. There are amazing hike/bike trails surrounding this lake. Biked all trails over my 3-day stay. Very peaceful.

Campsite was clean but park needs general maintenance, roads parking lots etc. sites are pretty close together so better be ok with neighbors. Bathrooms were not very clean either.

Great place for our family of 5 with young kids. Plenty of trails to walk and bike on. Definitely recommend bikes to take full advantage of the many trails you can do. Campsite and area was clean. Only downside is the lake is full of overgrowth, but still a fun and easy place to get to.

I dont know how exactly to rate this place. It was relatively clean, although there was not soap in the bathrooms. The fire pits were pretty picked up, but definitely not cleaned out. There is a trail that goes around the "lake" but it is in serious need of repair. There is no way you could get a wheel chair or scooter on the trail. The lake seemed very low, and would be very difficult to fish out of and I am sure my kids wouldnt want to swim in it. From what we heard, the management company is leaving January 1st, and it seems like they have kind of given up on maintaining the place. The cost is higher than what you would pay for a state park, and so for that I would not hesitate to just go to Huntsville State Park if you are in the area and looking for a spot to camp.
