What Guests Are Saying
Hanks Creek campground is well-kept and offers a peaceful atmosphere, with clean sites and decent facilities, making it a great spot for relaxation and outdoor activities. Many campers enjoyed the beautiful views of the lake and appreciated the friendly park hosts. However, some areas are in need of maintenance and updates, particularly the boat ramps and restroom facilities, which have been affected by recent flooding and storms.

Park is nice and clean and the staff are friendly . Very close to fishing , hunting and whatever else one would do in the area . Glad to know the whole park will be open later this year ! . Would like to see the showers with hot water though during the winter time , it was very very cold in the showers . Other than that , great place to stay .

First let me say that we try to camp here for 2 weeks every April and October. We know the place well. This was not one of our better trips. The main camp areas and half the shelters were closed. We were told maintenance was required, but in our two weeks we saw no one working. All of the campsites had power, water and were clean. We could camp year round before. Now it looks like they are closing for 3 or 4 months out of the year. Unfortunately I get the sense that Hanks Creek is going the way of Powell Park and Caney Creek. Still a nice place to go but time will tell if it can be open more reliably. Make your reservations as early as you can, it fills up quick.
Camp hosts were friendly and helpful.

When I stay at Parks, I follow the rules and try to make a small foot print. I would really like the Park Hosts to follow the same rules. We come to these places to enjoy ourselves. Not really to be friends and /or listen to their life stories. I'm sure these are well meaning folks but I'm not here for them. When I find myself hiding and/or changing directions because I don't want to interact with them it ruins my trip.

Shelter, boat ramp, location are great.
Employees top notch.
Disappointed gate not manned as in the past.
Disappointed half of shelters and sites not open year round.
Still my favorite place to stay on Rayburn.
