What Guests Are Saying
San Augustine Park is praised for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a peaceful getaway for campers. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained facilities, including the restrooms and showers, as well as the scenic views of Sam Rayburn Lake. Some areas for improvement include the need for additional electrical upgrades and more frequent grass maintenance, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

Great park but would be nice to have someone at the guard house.

My first time there and I had two campsites so we could park boats easily. One site had no shade which was disappointing, but we were able to park elsewhere. My biggest complaint was the men's room only had one toilet. I would think having the handicap stall up and running would be a priority. The shower was great!!

Traveling from Arkansas to the Texas coast I camped at the San Augustine Camp on Sam Rayburn from April 12th - 14th.
I've stayed at this camp before and was only one site over from my last visit. Site 85.
It's at the end of a dead-end camp road but no issues with backing into the site. My camper is 17 feet long. A larger camper may have a difficult time backing into the site.
The camp pad was level side to side. The bathhouse was a short walk.
There was only one other camper - up the road a bit - in the area so nice and quiet.
The bathhouse while not fancy was adequate and clean.
I had a view of the lake from my campsite.
Would stay here again when passing thru the area.

The park is very well kept. The Care taker was very friendly. The bathrooms were clean and inviting. The showers could use more water pressure, but clean.

Another excellent week at San Augustine Park. Stayed across from the swimming area. Beautiful view of the wild life going down for water as the sun came up. Quiet neighbors for the weekend. No problems while making reservations, was able to check in early as well. Although the water is low, no issues launching the boat and fishing was fantastic. 10 out of 10 again.

We were there at the end of Feb, and it was great! Very quiet. I think only about 6 campsites were occupied. Both camp hosts we met were super helpful. If you like peace and quiet and a beautiful view over Sam Rayburn Lake, this is the spot. Restrooms were in great shape, as was the rest of the park.

My family has been visiting this park for over 50 years. The water level of Rayburn was ridiculous but that does not reflect on the care of the park itself. The attendant was fantastic and really made us feel welcome! Can’t wait to go back.
