About Rayburn

Rayburn Park lies on the north shore of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a popular family destination with boating and fishing and access to hunting less than a mile away. Sam Rayburn Reservoir and the surrounding Angelina National Forest provide a wintering habitat for the bald eagle. During the winter months, forest visitors may see the bald eagle soaring over the lake, perched on a flooded snag or in a tall pine along the shoreline.

Be careful in the showers. Floors are extremely slippery.

Beautiful site, level and very quiet. You don't feel like your camping right next to each other.

We love Rayburn park. Have been going there for years. This park is a good distance from us but because of its location on the lake it was worth our drive. We were so excited that all the sites are now 50 amp. And the concrete slabs and picnic table area are very nice. HOWEVER, most of the sites are now almost short for the long trailers (over 35 ft) and a vehicle. Also, there is no parking close to individual campsites for your extra vehicle and boats . Many of us do not like parking our expensive boats in boat ramp parking overnight. And most times we need to charge our boat batteries and there is no room now close to our campsite. As pretty as the park is , these inconveniences will probably cause us not to choose this park as often as we have in the past.
We would certainly like to hear that the parking issue is resolved soon. Like I said this was our favorite park on Sam Rayburn !!!

The renovations are nice but there are fewer sites. The park has been condensed with not enough space for a second vehicle or boat. The pull throughs have been eliminated causing a lot of congestion on the one way loop. Campers are having to park their boat and second vehicle in the boat ramp lot.

We have stayed at this park before and love the quiet, and the setting. Unfortunately this time our experience was not great. Our trip was cut short after we, and everyone else in the park, was sent an email that we had to leave. Not even the courtesy of an explanation or an in person encounter. There was no camp host, and no gate attendant. Our children were very disappointed that we did not get to enjoy the rest of our camping trip. It was a long drive and lots of gas for one night.
