About Rayburn

Rayburn Park lies on the north shore of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, a popular family destination with boating and fishing and access to hunting less than a mile away. Sam Rayburn Reservoir and the surrounding Angelina National Forest provide a wintering habitat for the bald eagle. During the winter months, forest visitors may see the bald eagle soaring over the lake, perched on a flooded snag or in a tall pine along the shoreline.

We had to leave early because of the biting flies. We couldn’t even go out of our campers until dark. Seems like there should be something done during the time their there.I’m sure they probably only come out certain times of the year we’ve never seen them so bad before. Other than that Rayburn Park is my favorite place to go camping the park is just beautiful and clean. The sunrises and sunsets are amazing.

1st night kids woke up with smarms of fire ants in the tent all over them and us. 1 year old could not walk anywhere in site without getting bites all over him. They were literally everywhere!! Moved sites and still could not avoid them, climbing up poles to garbage bags, nests everywhere. Would honestly like a refund for sure!! If your paying for camp grounds they should be maintained, I understand 1 or 2 nests here or there but not all over! Ranger said good luck on refund. This is outdoors there is going to be ants. Yes if I'm free camping in woods for sure, that is why we paid for a nice campground. We up and left 1st day and did not stay the 3 nights! Was not even there 24 hr

They eliminated the pull thru spots, making the spots smaller and more difficult to park bigger rigs. The park ranger was not very friendly, complaining to everyone that had a tire on the grass. some of the spots are not even big enough for your rig and 2 vehicles. I do like that they now have more 50 amp spots.
