What Guests Are Saying
San Augustine Park is praised for its cleanliness, friendly staff, and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a peaceful getaway for campers. Visitors appreciate the well-maintained facilities, including the restrooms and showers, as well as the scenic views of Sam Rayburn Lake. Some areas for improvement include the need for additional electrical upgrades and more frequent grass maintenance, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

Shower rooms need redone. Nice site on lake with large meadow behind site. Pad of site very narrow for any RV.

This comment in no way reflects on the campground staff. They were very friendly and seemed to monitor the campground very effectively. Everything was clean and tidy. I was in site 39 and that site should be CLOSED. It is so unlevel I was unable to get my RV anywhere near level using my entire supply of leveling material (which has always been way more than enough). When I got up in the middle of the night I would lean so I'd lose my footing. I know now why it was the only site available when I booked! I mentioned closing it to the staff and their reply was they tried that and people would park in it. I don't understand that problem. What does that matter?

Beautiful well kept park. I do wish there had been a sign on the main highway.

So disappointed in this particular National Park (San Augustine campground in Bronson Texas). We have a 2 night reservation and went into town to get groceries today leaving behind our hose, camp chairs and leveling blocks like we have always done and have seen others do, only to come back to find it all gone. We stopped at the front window on our way back from town and said “just coming back in” and pointed to our tag with our camp number on it. When we asked the neighbors about it, they said maybe the park host might have picked it up. We went back to the front and Dave parked behind a black truck that was parked there. He told me to look in the back of the truck on my way to the office and sure enough our stuff was in there. I went to the window and told her we went to town and when we came back our chairs, hose and blocks were gone. She didn’t say anything and the man behind didn’t either, then I said the neighbors mentioned that maybe the park guy picked them up....again silence. Finally I said they are in the back of that black truck. That is when she said “we thought you checked out early” and he came forward. She said people don’t take their motorhome in when they go to town and I pointed out that we have two nights reserved and don’t have a tow vehicle. He came out and never apologized and Dave aske if this was his private vehicle and he said yes. So mad

The campground was very well kept up. I was very impressed with how clean the restroom facilities were! I will say, if you don't have a boat, there's not much to do here. The swimming area is very shallow and only comes up to an adult's waist, and there aren't and hiking trails or places to rent canoes or kayaks. So, if you're just looking to sit and unplug, or if you are bringing your boat, it's very nice! Otherwise, there isn't much else going on here.
