What Guests Are Saying
Sandy Creek Park is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and well-maintained grounds, making it a favorite among campers. Guests appreciate the spacious, level sites, helpful staff, and beautiful views of the lake. However, there are concerns about the outdated restrooms and difficulties with the dump station, which could use some improvement.

We reserved our favorite spot and had to cancel due to weather and other unavoidable circumstances. We reserved again and did receive our refund on the first time, which was great. Our trip was mostly enjoyable and the weather was good, we love the still natural beauty that still exists in this SE TEXAS park. My complaint is that the "attendants" weren't friendly and there was so much work that could be done with equipment/materials already on site but all is at a standstill and not being used. I do know the history of this park and there have been issues for many years, ONE being the "Hydrilla" plant in the lake. I ASKED the attendant if he could clean the fishing pier by us since the flood had settled massive amounts of the plant on the pier and especially, there was a foot at the entrance. I already saw snakes in the area and would not venture over the plant to the pier. Never happened !!! He only brought a blower and cleared the pier, putting the plant back into the water. My husband brought our small "potato fork" from home and I took 15-30 minutes to clear the ENTRANCE to the pier putting the plant to each side of the walkway. Also I parked my vehicle beside our truck and there's a good size washout hole that has been there for some time. I brought/used our hoe and square-lipped shovel from home, to get some rock across the driveway to put in that hole. I have been co-owner in a construction business and could have repaired all of the things needing repaired in a couple of days if I had that job !!! It's not hard to do. I also ... always pick up trash and garbage at any site where we camp, leaving it cleaner than found - ALWAYS ! There are many other questions I have that I will ask when I go to the COE office here locally. Recreation.gov however did it's job on the reservation end and processing end. Thanks !

Very good park. Very friendly camp host. Site was easy to back into. Very clean. But the bugs was horrible. No matter what we did or used they were still there and bitting.
