What Guests Are Saying
Sandy Creek Park is praised for its peaceful atmosphere, cleanliness, and well-maintained grounds, making it a favorite among campers. Guests appreciate the spacious, level sites, helpful staff, and beautiful views of the lake. However, there are concerns about the outdated restrooms and difficulties with the dump station, which could use some improvement.

We loved our stay! Sites are huge and we had a beautiful view of the lake. Backing up the trailer is easy and the parking pads are large and level. We enjoyed the trail that will connect you with Martin Dies Jr. campground and further trails, if desired. Their is a great butcher in Jasper, Jasper Quality Meats Inc. - not the one of the same name that includes a smokehouse, very friendly staff and great steaks. We also enjoyed the vibe and food at Texas Wine Shop and Bistro. Most of their wines are on the sweet side but we managed to find one that was a little more dry, and more to our tastes. The pizza flatbreads are very good.

There are four camping areas (one is tent only - no elec/water), almost all sites are on water. Sites are level and very spacious. The park is quiet and beautiful, with lots of hiking/biking trails as it connects to Martin Dies Jr State Park on its northern border. There are three bath houses with flush toilet, running water and showers. They are clean but dated (metal toilets with no seats, push button showers). Some sites can have a long walk to the bathroom, so check that out before reserving. The lake is beautiful and lots of fishing. There are 3 boat launches and a a canoe launch. The dump station was being upgraded on our visit.

Beautiful park and had a nice site in the tall pines with the lake right behind us. Very few 50 amp sites for big rigs and park says you cannot use an adapter for 30 amp sites. We had a close neighbor that played very loud music and partied until 11:30. We mentioned it to one of the staff, and someone else had already turned them in so the next night all was quiet by 10. No one was ever at the gatehouse, and no one monitored who came and went, we would’ve liked to have had a map, but no maps were available in the map box. Very nice place to ride bikes , if you could put up with the thousands of gnats. Water was shut off one morning with no notice but it was fixed within a couple of hours. We had to call the COE office to find out that it was being worked on. It would’ve been nice to have the host come around on their gators and let people know. We’ve been at campgrounds before where the host comes through and even warns you when there’s severe weather coming, which is very nice!

The park is on a small peninsula so every campsite can see the lake. You can catch both sunrise and sunset over the water, which is glorious! The grounds are well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. The picnic tables had a metal awning overhead which was nice protection from rain or hot sun. Negative. There was a wasp nest beginning in the electrical box at both my site and the site next to me.
The bath house was clean. That’s the only good thing I have to say about it. There was no soap. There was no trash recepticle of any kind. The water faucet in both the sink and shower had no choice of temperature, water pressure, or duration of flow. The faucet style was push and let go. The water came out for X seconds. If you wanted more you had to push again. —Even in the shower.
