It is quiet and peaceful here. All of the deer and wildlife make it a welcoming place to be, if even for a short time. Preferably, we like to visit when it isn't quite so busy and we never go on a holiday as it is too crowded. We love to go into Jefferson to see our old friends at the fudge shop and antique store. The General Store is a MUST. Since we live in Longview, we can go at any time.

This park has become one of the worst's parks I have been to in a long time. I have been going to these parks for over 50 years and the State has really let them go. The grass was so high I lost my small dog on a lease. My pad had dirt and mud a least 1 to 3 inches high across the concrete. The grass around was so high and built up with mud about 5 inches that it made a big mess on the pad. You couldn't even walk down to the lake and swim because of the grass at the lake. Maybe 2 foot high. You couldn't even find the fire pit because of the grass was so grown up around it.
What a disgrace to the people of Texas. The volunteers do not do anything any more. Just stay for free. Nobody cares or watches what they do. I was there for a week and never saw them do anything. What a shame.
I sorry for this bad report but it's true. It would be nice to send a Park Ranger by the Spot 402 Johnson Creek and really stop and get out of his truck and see it and then tell me it's ok.

Showers on tent side needs attention bad. And ants were very bad on the raillings and the wood frameing. Bathrooms need to cleaning better. The mans shower only worked on very hot and the ladys shower was cold. Tile was missing on the shower walls very easy fix. And the bathroom's on tent side had no ac but on rv side the bathrooms had ac. But it is still a nice tent camping spot lake is very nice and good fishing.

They don't mow the grass or blow the dirt/mud off the concrete pads. There is insufficient signage. This site was a nice otherwise.
