About Union Grove

Union Grove Park is located on the southwestern shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in central Texas. The lake offers a wide variety of recreation opportunities, including water sports, hiking, biking, horseback riding, picnicking, large group pavilions, hunting, fishing and simply enjoying the scenery. This facility has RV and tent camping sites with water and electric hookups available, as well as three screen shelters available for guests without camping equipment. The facility is one of only two reservable campgrounds on the lake. Stillhouse Hollow Lake was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the construction of Stillhouse Hollow Dam in 1968. The 6,430-acre lake is located 16 miles upstream of the confluence of the Lampasas and Leon Rivers, which flow into the Little River.

A total disregard of the rule ( dogs must be on a leash) by people who work there. When asked about it, they actually argued that their dog was well trained and did not need to be on a leash. They asked if we wanted to speak to a Ranger, we said yes, but of course no Ranger was called. We camp at about eight or nine COE camp grounds per year and find that the rule (dogs must be on a leash) is not being followed.

Beautiful campground. AMAZING BATHROOM/SHOWER facility. The cleanest bathrooms we've ever seen at a campsite. Some sites are very uneven and are very cramped together. Others are more spaced out. Site 9 is very close to the water with beautiful views but the ground is very uneven making our tent uneven and another site is very close on one side. The benches and grounds are very well kept. The fishing dock is fantastic. The camping area is secure with a pin code for the gate entrance. The online map of the area isn't very accurate. And the water and power connections are on the opposite side of the driveway farther from the table. Seemed more accommodating for an RV. Our site (#9) was also listed as "shaded" but had no shade at all. But overall we would stay again.
