What Guests Are Saying

Speegleville Park is a peaceful campground with spacious, well-maintained sites and beautiful views of the lake, making it a great spot for relaxation and wildlife observation, particularly deer. Guests appreciate the friendly staff and the park's proximity to Waco, as well as the cleanliness of the area. However, there are notable maintenance concerns, particularly regarding restroom facilities, grass upkeep, and road conditions, which detract from the overall experience.

Very nice, well-maintained park just a short drive from Waco. Friendly and helpful park staff. Most sites are huge with plenty of space. Our pull-thru site was very long with asphalt parking pad, grill, fire pit, and lantern pole. Covered picnic table was on a large concrete pad surround by decomposed granite patio.

No playground but large field and loop is great for biking. Boat ramp has large parking area.

Love deer? This is the park for you. Plenty around along with birds and squirrels. Zero issues with insects.

Bathhouse was clean. Men's and Women's restroom with 3 stalls and 2 sinks. 4 shower rooms with shower and dressing areas divided by a wall. Sitting bench, shelves, and hooks available. 2 handicap accessible rooms with toilet, sink, shower, bench, shelf, and hooks. All shower rooms are lockable.

Dumpsters located between sites 25 & 26 and near bathhouse.

Dump station is two lanes and easily accessible from either direction. Unfortunately, the dump port is several inches above grade on top of a steel platform which made dumping uphill a royal pain.

Absolutely loved site 22. BUT, this time just like EVERY time, we had to take our own mower and weedeater to mow our site. Ants were everywhere. The part that's getting VERY hard it just getting into the park!!! The potholes (craters) are so deep and so wide there is no way to avoid them. PLEASE FILL THE HOLES.

They are lacking in the mowing the camp sites. I understand when campers are there, but they can see the reservations and schedule mowing. The grass around the shower and restroom area was so ridiculously high no one wanted to use them.

Bring your own mower unless something changes Corp of Engineers no longer cleans or mows their parks this has been going on at least 2 years. The sewer dump is made for tall campers only if you have a sewer outlet that is not at least 14 inches off the ground this dump is unusable.

I would like to recognize Mark the gate watcher he came down and mowed our site it was a mess. I would suggest contracting a company to mow real soon because it will be too tall to mow in the next 2 weeks with all the rain.

The parks would be much more enjoyable and appealing if the grass would be mowed on a regular basis.. myself and other campers mowed our own campsites.
