What Guests Are Saying
Speegleville Park offers a clean, peaceful environment with spacious campsites and abundant wildlife, making it an enjoyable destination for families and nature lovers. The staff is friendly, amenities are functional, and many guests appreciate the beautiful views and fishing opportunities. However, some areas require maintenance, particularly the roads, signage, and dump station, which have been noted as problematic.

I recently had 2 visits to this park. Both within the same week. And I used 2 separate campsites with 3 separate reservations, haha!
The wildlife is abundant at this park. There are deer everywhere - so drive in slowly. I also saw toads, frogs, armadillos, water snakes, and more. We caught and saw a ton of fish too. The gar were breeding in the shallows, so they were everywhere splashing. My wife and I caught stripers, catfish, and some unusually large perch. Its a recreational lake but the fishing was pretty good.
The camp grounds restrooms/showers are pretty clean. Most of the camp sites here are for RVs, so you won't be waiting to take a shower or use the restroom.
There's a boat ramp in the park with multiple lanes. There's plenty of swimming areas. There's gas stations and small stores nearby. Larger stores are within a 15 minute drive.

Camp was well maintained and the park employees were friendly and helpful. The grass surrownding our site was in need of mowing as it was at a minimum of 10 inches tall.

Grass was extremely high for a holiday weekend with a lot of kids playing in the field and saw two snakes one being a rattlesnake. Very unsafe for kids with grass being so high. Also people were parking everywhere in the grass and woods. Park rangers drove by several times and did nothing about getting cars moved.

Hi y’all! We spent the weekend at Speegleville Park and had a wonderful and restful time. Great spaces between campers, clean bathrooms and park. Deers watching you watching them, squirrels bustling and oh the ants and bees on top of their game as well 😞
My husband and I loved being right next to the water, great walks with our dog over this park Never the same trail twice.
Make this a stop on your next camping adventure! We had spot 27 and will definitely request it again.
Not sure why this review requested information on a hotel.

Very nice and clean park, fished several days don’t believe there any fish in that lake but that’s ok had a good time. Some road work is needed into the entrance of the park due to past rains but all in all very nice and quite park

Great campground (not a hotel!) just outside the noise of Waco. Corps of Engineers park, great value with my Senior America Parks Pass. Fairly level site overlooking the lake! Tons of wildlife all around! Each site has a covered patio area with picnic table and grill on hard gravel. Love this place!

We had a great time at Speegleville - we met with several members of our RV camping group for the weekend and enjoyed time at each others campsites for meals and games. Generally, we did not seek out other places or activities as we were there for our friends.
Our only disappointment was at the dump station as we were leaving. The sewer connection at the dump station was significantly higher than the outlet on our motorhome. By filling the hose, and then closing the gate valve on our sewer outlet, then lifting the hose so that it could drain into the dump station, I was able to get most of our waste into the dump station. At least I was able to do that instead of what some patron ahead of me did; which was to simply empty his black tank onto the concrete apron around a drain into the dump station, leaving toilet paper and waste on the concrete. Not Good!

We love this campground! If it had Full Hookups, it would be 5 star!! Almost level sites, great views of the lake and wildlife, quiet and dark at night but close enough to Waco! The roads could use some love and the grass needed to be mowed around the sites.

Great campgrounds! Clean facilities and quiet park. Loved walking around to grounds and watching the sunset by the lake. Trash around our site that we picked up but not a big deal. Lady at the front office was nice too!!
