Very quite park until Saturday night. Luckily we were far enough away from the hooligans' that we could only hear the occasional screaming/singing. I would stay away from the swim area though. My wife got parasites' that covered both her legs and had to deal with that for about a week. We had site 10. The site is one of the smaller sites and barely fit my 33' camper. Bring a bunch of blocking due to the parking sites being graded. Caught a bunch of fish right in front of our site, Bass, Gasper Goo, and Pan Fish. There were a lot of deer in the area as well as squires and birds. I would suggest bringing some kind of ant deterrent as there were a lot of ants there and throw away your trash at night because they found ours even hanging up. All and all a relaxing trip and will definitely be returning, just not swimming.

No need for interior gates to get into camping areas
Need to put in a code to open gate but after dark there is no light to light up the keys.

We always love camping at McCown Valley. It’s my family’s favorite camping spot. We usually have 5-6 campers, sometimes a few tents, and this is the best campground at Lake Whitney!

We almost quit camping at McCowen because the grass was always so high. This time it had been mowed and was clean. The attendant at the gate was nice and polite. The bathrooms could be in better condition but I have a camper so I didn’t really use them however the people we were with did. They said they could have been cleaner.

Grass was over grown. One bathroom was nasty. Zip ties laying ever where.

Bathrooms were not great at all. Ants on all of our groups camp grounds were TERRIBLE. Could be an amazing spot if better taken care of

Just need to open day use gate for ppl with passes so we don’t have to sit in line for 30 min due to that forever slow ticket machine.

Vary clean facilities and friendly staff, law enforcement does regular patrols of the camps sites making me and the family feel comfortable and safe. Showers are a little gross and drains are clogged so they flood the whole bathroom. Beautiful park tho.
