This is a beautiful campground. We stayed in site 15 and it had very good shade for our camper. There are gorgeous lookouts over the river with an easy trail right there at the campground. Swimming access at the lake was about 15 minutes away at the dam.

I reserved & paid for site #3 for the weekend prior to July 4th. Pictures show the table to be a short ways from parking spaces for 1-3 with a nice path (essential due to joint issues). On my arrival the other campers had parked their 2 vehicles nose to nose & straddled the parking spaces so that no one else could park there (with the exception of the legally designated physically handicapped space). I parked at the camp host location to wait for their help & called the Flaming Gorge district for help. They said they would text the camp host. Several hours later the cars remained parked blocking access to #3. I gave up waiting & found a first come first serve site. The camp host later found me, explained that she had poor cell service & came as soon as she could. She very kindly said I could keep the spot I had found. The next day a guy showed up that had reserved that spot. It took me a bit to get the camp host back on the phone. She eventually confirmed the spot had been reserved & directed me to find yet another spot or return to #3. I chose a closer site that no one had shown up for, but it turns out they were just late & got there shortly after I relocated to it. I told the camp host I would go back to #3 & that she would have to make sure I could park in the associated parking spot. In going back to my reserved & paid for site #3, the new campers that day had taken up the 3 spots with their massive boat in the handicapped spot & their very large F350s in the 2 remaining spots. The camp host eventually made them move the F350 in the spot next to site #3 & said, “They are real sorry they hurt your feelings.” I had not had any conversations with anyone about any hurt feelings & not sure how this rectified the place I reserved & paid for that was rendered inaccessible for me, the payee, by other campers on both dates. Sigh. Lessons learned. I will pay for & take up a full RV spot in the future. Tent campers, beware of this site.

Great and quiet campsite. Campsite 07 is approx 75 feet from the canyon overlook and the Canyon Rim Trail. Campsite has decent shade with a few trees providing some cover throughout the day. Would recommend campsite 08 or 09 if available as they are 50 ft from the canyon. Campground is only a mile away from Red Canyon Resort that has a restaurant and general market.

Beautiful campground with large sites and a trail that runs right past. The campground could use one more outhouse. For some reason, the water was not turned on yet and we had to go to a neighboring campground to fetch some. That said, we would definitely camp here again.

Beautiful Campsite! 001 is surrounded by flowers and away from the road to be quiet at night.
Canyon Rim campground is a short walk to the Flaming Gorge, while not being right on the edge.
