Great location and well kept ground. Def pink loop A instead of loop B for tent camping.

South Fork campground is a small treasure. The campground is well kept, the vault toilets were clean and smell free. The camp sites have great fire pits that are insulated and cool to the touch on exterior. Great picnic table and the pedestal for a grill ir griddle was perfect. The camp host was helpful and kind. The nearby river was a great background to all our camp activities.

Do not recommend this campground at all. Our site was far too close to the bathrooms and the smell was horrible - our site shouldn’t have even been a site due to the proximity to the bathrooms. My husband and I were kept awake until 2:30am from the partying going on a few sites over. Loud music, yelling, you name it. Upon our arrival we asked the camp host if we could move anywhere else because there were open sites and he did not help at all, but did admit “the bathrooms can smell bad sometimes.” The sheriff drove around the campground prior to sunset but we understand why now (gates lock at 10pm or else I’m sure he would’ve done it later, too). If you want a quiet, family friendly campground this is NOT the place to stay. Guests were also unruly and had no common courtesy. At one point we thought someone was trying to break the door to the mens bathroom. We also couldn’t even sit at the picnic table due to the smell of the bathrooms. Host did not do anything to upkeep the campground. Horrible experience. We moved to Anderson Cove the next day where those hosts were wonderful and very concerned about our stay at South Fork.

The site was beautiful and fit our 3 tents and 3 cars with plenty of room left over. It's pet friendly, which was awesome. It's right next to bathrooms and just a short walk to the river access point and garbage receptacles. Unfortunately, it rained on us during our entire stay, but we still enjoyed ourselves. I took one star off for the unfriendly camp host. He was pretty grumpy toward us as we were leaving and stopped to drop off our trash. He yelled at us for stopping in the road. My brother was right behind us and had stopped so his daughter could use the restroom before we left. The host made him keep moving, so his daughter had to walk up the loop to meet back up with her dad as he circled back down. Seemed unnecessary and pretty rude. Also, the bathrooms could have been tidier. There was soap and water, though, so that was super nice. Over all, we enjoyed this spot and will come back again.

Everything was good until the last night. It was Friday and the campground filled up quickly like you would expect for a weekend, but the host did not control the campers. Among several loud campsites, there was one loud group of people that were yelling and hollering until at least 2:00 a.m. There was also a camp site two away from us that ran their generator until 12:00a.m. and the only reason they shut it off was because I went and talked to them. I think the camp host needs to have a walk through the camp about 10:30 and remind those who are not following the quiet time hours to comply.

More attention needs to be directed towards use of gas operated generators. I have a generator that is some what quiet but as I realize that it can be heard in the next campsite I do not run it for more than fifteen to twenty minutes at any given time and no more than twice daily. There are some inconsiderate campers that will actually bring their electric smokers and run there generators for hours, (five to eight). There are some generators that are extremely quiet that I don’t have a problem with. Those who have a generator like mine are who I’m addressing. I realize that there are quiet hours however if a camper needs or wants to run a generator for more than a short period of time during the day they should be restricted to using a generator that cannot be heard by their camping neighbor. The camp host did make an effort to tell the person who has promoted this letter but was limited as there is only the quiet hour rule that they could use to prevent the noise. I have a right to an enjoyable time camping as well and I do not think that listening to a generator for several hours is an enjoyable time. Please consider rules for people who use generators to respect others desire for minimal use of a generator. Thank you.
