About Green River Campground

The Green River Campground is located along the banks of the Green River at an elevation of 4,750 feet (1448 m). The highly eroded Split Mountain is visible to the north. The campground is about five miles (8 km) from the famous Quarry Exhibit Hall, where you can see 149 million year old dinosaur bones still encased in the rock. A short distance from the campground is the Split Mountain Boat Ramp where river rafters come off the Green River after trips through Dinosaur National Monument's canyons.

The female Camp Host was way over the top to the point of being rude in explaining the camp rules.
The restrooms were clean and well maintained and there is water available at the restrooms even though the Recreation.gov information claims there is not.

Fantastic campground we keep coming back to. What a gem. Only sad part was the host didn’t enforce the quiet time, one of the campers had his generator running until 11:30pm when I had to get up and ask him to turn it off (which he did).

It’s a convenient spot to stay for a visit to Dinosaur NM. There is a historic farm across the river and a farm dog was barking through the entire night; I did not sleep at all. The chipmunks are relentless lol, they will harass you while you are cooking and they will approach despite human proximity. Otherwise, it is well maintained and was a great place to take my relative who doesn’t do much camping.

Beautiful campground along the Green River. Some sites are shaded, which we lucked into. The distance between sites also varies. Some have more privacy than others. Highly recommend.

This was our first trip to this campground. Like so many other campgrounds it is hard to judge what you are selecting based off of the pictures on the reservation site. So we made our reservation 6 months out because we were unsure of the demand for when we wanted to visit. We originally booked site 42 and it was baking in the afternoon sun. Site 30 is full shade and so much better if you are tent camping.
We ended up staying in site 63 which is a first come first serve site. It had great shade but it had two other sites that were in the same opening and were really close.
We probably wouldn't do more than an overnight here in the future because there isn't a lot to do in the park.
On the day we arrive there were some campers that had a chair and their firewood stolen out of their site. Plus some of the RVs want to run their generators after quiet hours. Just be aware.
