This was our first time camping at Washington Lake Campground. We reserved the group site called Jefferson. We were a large group of 30 with a lot of children. Honestly, we’ve been camping to several places before but this was our first time actually reserving a campground. We were plenty excited and had high expectations given that we payed a hefty price for a 2 night stay.
At first when we arrived the host Joni was nice and stressed that we made sure to keep the gate closed. We only saw her the first night. Her husband, Rick, was another story. An old grumpy man that had a vendetta on our group from the beginning. He had preconceptions of our group given the size.
The first night we were so excited to start our camping trip. We had a fire started, music playing, games going at 11pm at night. Rick showed up so aggressively telling us we had to shut it down. We were unaware that there was a “quiet time” from 6am-10pm. Nowhere on the website did this ever appear and it wasn’t mentioned until he showed up angry. He threatened to bring the county sheriff because we were being too loud. Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do when you’re camping?! Having fun and staying up at night to make s’mores and look at the stars? We didn’t drive 2 hours and pay for a reservation to have a curfew at 10pm. Rick said other campground reservations were complaining about us being loud, but the groups were far from us.
He showed up the next morning at 7am. After the “quiet time” curfew to let us know to be quiet during the DAY! We told him that it wasn’t curfew time anymore and he seemed annoyed.
He seemed to hate that we were making any noise at all!
We are disappointed to say that we are NEVER coming to this campsite every again. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone and if you’re looking for a relaxing and fun camping trip, do not reserve from this campground!

The roads into the campground from the highway were overcrowded with cars parked in "no parking" zones despite the ample "no parking" signage. There was no enforcement by the County Sherriff or the Forest Service who were present on a daily basis. Tickets should have been issued instead of turning a blind eye. Maneuvering a large trailer was sometimes impossible and at least hazardous on these entrance roads. The Camp Hosts did there best to try to remedy the situation, but they were just overwhelmed by the volume of infractions. I would commend them for their efforts.

Our experience was amazing. The campground hosts were so kind and thoughtful. The campground was clean every day and quiet every night. There was a problem with noisy people next to us but the hosts were right there to keep the peace. We love Washington lake and will visit again this summer. The hosts were the key to a pleasant camping trip. Kudos to Rick and Joni .

Washington Lake is beautiful. the campground is very nice. the camp spots were clean and tidy. the Camp host does an excellent job keeping tabs on all of the campers and making sure they are having a great time. The bathrooms are probably the cleanest best smelling vault toilets I have ever experienced. We will be going back next summer!

The campground is great and near the Crystal Lake trailhead. The only downside is no water, not even in neighboring campgrounds. You shouldn't charge full price and make people bring water.
