What Guests Are Saying
The campground at Spruces in Big Cottonwood Canyon offers beautiful scenery, friendly staff, and well-maintained sites, making it a popular choice for campers. Many visitors appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, great hiking options, and clean facilities, despite some complaints about the restroom situation and water availability. While there have been issues with locked bathrooms and high traffic on weekends, overall experiences highlight the campground's charm and natural beauty.

We had our wedding here and it couldn't have been more perfect for us! The camp hosts were awesome about letting us leave stuff set up the day before and after....granted, we did rent the spot for three days, but it was still nice being able to leave stuff there and not worry about it.

We always love Spruces. Close to home. Clean, friendly staff, but most of all, BEAUTIFUL. Camping on a river site tops it off with sleeping to the sounds of a babbling brook.

I took my scout troop for a week long camp. We had a memorable experience here and the staff gave us help tips for hikes.

This is always a great place to camp. Over the years I've noticed a decline in some of the camp sites.

Spruces is a large and bustling campground, due to it being a great way to get out of the city, into an entirely different environment, for locals. Every summer weekend, the campground is full, or nearly full. There are about 100 spots, with a lot of first come first served spots, but they are often taken very early in the day. There are always no-shows in the reserved section, and spots open the next morning for walk-up campers. The campers do run generators, and there are lots of kids. Peace and quiet is not necessarily to be found except after 10pm. This campground is in lushly forested mixed quaking aspen and blue spruce, and offers hiking and access to stream and pond fishing. If you are looking for peace and quiet, and can camp on regular workdays, The campground feels much more relaxed.

This place was awesome! We had our wedding reception at the wood pavillion and it was perfect. There's a bathroom really close and we were able to set up all the decorations and music. Highly recommend!
