I camped here because of an incoming storm because the website indicated the sites had a covered table. I could only get site 4, which as I discovered does not have a covered table. A worker was able to switch me to site 7 which has a cover. The first night was OK except for the site next door which had a loud, smelly generator going most of my stay. Then I have to switch back to # 4 which was even closer to the idiot with the generator. The wind was blowing the exhaust into site 4, and he had the generator right near site 4. I left because the smell and noise was just horrible. So I stayed one night but paid for two. The extra $8 for the reservation is overpriced. I have stayed there before, and had a good experience. I will not stay there again! Your reservation system is terrible and will make me only go dispersed camping.

Campsite is spacious and the picnic table and benches under a pavilion is a great feature

I have such mixed feelings about this campground! Positives: It is extraordinarily beautiful. Worth saying again! Fairly clean. Nice hikes, some with shade. Water at each site. Water and some shade at camp sites over the tables. A beautiful shady area by creek that you can hang out in if your campsite gets too hot in the day. Usually quiet at night with wonderful star gazing.
Negatives: I have Never seen a ranger there, very little monitoring goes on. Out houses are sometimes smelly. The sites do not feel private to me, they are visible from the road and often from the neighboring sites. Very popular with day visitors, so if you are near the parking area, you hear car doors and loud voices from early morning on. Lots of people drive thru to check it out. Technically, no climbing is allowed, yet there are climbing bolts/anchors above sites 1 and 2 that people use regularly, a real bummer if you are settled in to your site, thinking that you at least have quiet and privacy on that side of the camp site, until you hear voices and look up to see someone rappelling down the cliff, almost into your site. These issues could be mitigated by: Limiting day use parking to the lower lot- they could do this with a simple gate/bar device that you can only enter with a code that you get when reserving a site. And they could remove the climbing anchors, bolts from the rocks. BLM, I hope you pay attention to this for it really is a spectacular campground!

Great campground in a wonderful location - absolutely loved our spot, the surrounding scenery, and the surprisingly clean outhouses. Maybe the cleanest I've ever used? Will be staying here again, no doubt about it.

It was really neat to see the Dinosaur tracks. The camp site itself was very small, just room for my small tent, but that is what was advertised.
