This was our second trip to Capital Reef staying at Fruita Campground and it was the best camping experience we had our whole trip through southwest Utah. There were lots of deer that visited the campground and the trees had turned color in early November and just added to the beauty of it all. Our campsite was in Loop B and was very wide. Loved our stay!

Great campground with super helpful volunteer hosts.
I was afraid everything would be closed because of the political issues…I was extremely grateful our amazing parks, visitor centers and campgrounds were at least partially functioning. Our parks make a positive difference in people’s lives and present our nation in its best light to the millions of international visitors who come to visit them annually.

The campground is incredibly beautiful in fall season. It's surrounded by golden leaves trees. We spent one night camping in a tent there and the neighbors have been very quiet and considerate. The campsite we have has nothing to complain about, it's flat and roomy, with a fire ring and picnic table and benches. It's next to the Gillford house, so we got to try their tasty pies as breakfast when they open in the morning.

The campground was a huge improvement from our last visit over 30 years ago. Our campground host was excellent. He found us extra nights to allow our 3 nights extend to 5. Overall a great experience.

We stayed at the Fruta campground a couple years ago. The volunteer Camp Host was terrible. However, this year the Camp Host, Peter and his wife, made our stay there exceptional. Highly recommend the Fruta campground as long as you have a good Camp Host. The area is beautiful and there are lots of things to do if you like hiking and exploring.

Flat, crowded, poor drainage, muddy conditions. Do not recommend.

We really enjoyed our 2 nights at Fruita, loop A. It is a beautiful campsite that is walk-able to the Gifford Homestead for the museum and shop (with amazing pies!), as well as a few hiking trails. You could also walk to the ampitheater for the ranger talk, which our kids loved. There was no cell service but wifi was available through a NPS public wifi, which was a surprise. No electric hookups except for medical devices, and generator use was not allowed. The bathrooms were clean and warm.

We camped in a 31 foot Class A motorhome and had our Jeep Wrangler in site 54 in Loop C in late October through early November. I picked this site so we could maximize sun loading for our solar and also provide unobstructed view of sky for our Starlink satellite dish. We enjoy camping at Fruita Campground as we can hike right from our campsite and also conveniently drive the Scenic Drive to other hikes in our Jeep. This year weather was perfect with sunny skies and warm temperatures. Also enjoyed the bonus of enjoying Gifford House pie and viewing the deer as they wander through the campground. Speaking of deer, the campground hosts were regularly patrolling for deer droppings in the campground. Additionally, the campground and restrooms are very clean and well maintained. Thanks for a great experience!
