What Guests Are Saying
Beartree is a well-maintained, quiet campground with nice privacy and clean facilities, offering a wonderful camping experience. Many sites are fantastic, although some require significant leveling, and the infrastructure could use upgrades. Overall, it provides a beautiful, woodsy atmosphere ideal for a relaxing retreat.

I've been camping at Beartree for 40 years and am a bit sad to see how old the facilities are. I heard they are contracted now, but please fix them up before they decline further. The roads and campsites themselves are wonderful, but it is no longer organized like days gone by. Yes, I will be camping there again next year, even though I feel the cost is not going to improving the campground.

Camp site was nice and peaceful. Very nice visit and close to Damascus where we rode the Creeper trail by using Sundog Outfitters-- they are terrific and took really good care of our group of 13 Scouts and Leaders

The water coming out of all faucets and toilets was orangish/yellow on Friday. It cleared a bit on Saturday. We had 20 people in our two camp sites 2 and 5 and most refused to drink it.

Much work needed- the lake is unusable which is so sad because of the times spent there as a child. Definately need more camp workers. My husband and I would be willing to be camp hosts and work on things in 1st campground which is not being used. Chipmunk loop was nice. We always enjoy our stay.

How much further does the US Forest Service intend to let this campground deteriorate? Every time we have come up for the past few years, there have been one or two (or all!) restrooms closed. The individual campsites themselves desperately need new gravel. We don't have small children, but the wonderful playground our children played on many years ago is now closed because it is deteriorating. Please, please, give this campground the attention it deserves. We usually come three or four times a year. We haven't decided if we are coming back this year. The campground hosts this year are doing the best they can, even doing some painting and sprucing up, but it is all cosmetic. The bathhouses must be redone. Start a "go fund me" page and I will contribute. Just give us back our wonderful campground. Please.
