I plan to return to Mathew's Arm as soon as I get a chance, It's a great location in the woods, and you're camping in Shenandoah National Park! I brought a lab puppy with me, and we both enjoyed early morning walks when the campgound is quietest. The trees made the difference for privacy. I prefer campsites that don't give the feeling that I'm parked at an RV dealership.

The Reception station was staffed by professional, enthusiastic, informative rangers. The campsite I chose (C-148) was well groomed, quiet, and conducive to a good tenting experience. The several trails linked to the campground were easy to follow, and offered not only a great hike, but provided excellent opportunities for great photography. I look forward to returning next year.

Everything was great. The group site was huge and perfect for the six of us and our two dogs. The two mike hike by our campsite is fun and had a beautiful waterfall at the end. The bathrooms were clean as well.

Great campground located near a lot of hiking areas. Restrooms, trash, and recycling area were always clean.
The prices at the store 2 miles away are very high. Firewood is $7.00 for six pieces of wood. This needs to be reviewed by the Park Service.

Beautiful setting! We were in the tent only section and as the sites are very close together we could even here people talking in the tent site next to us during the night. Our biggest complaint was the tent pad was so full of embedded rocks that it was hard to get the stakes in. Also many rocks in the rest of the site as well.
The camp host was very knowledgeable and sweet.
