About Big Creek (Gifford Pinchot National Forest, WA)

Situated in the vicinity of majestic Mount Rainier, Big Creek is a family campground nestled among Douglas firs, hemlock, alders and maples. The lush vegetation offers plenty of privacy between sites. The sites at Big Creek form a loop, with only a handful of sites sitting along the banks of Big Creek. Open from mid-May through late September, Big Creek provides an alternative to the campgrounds at Mount Rainier National Park, which can get very crowded during the summer.

Quiet campground, loved being right by the river, and the sites are well-spaced and sizable. Will definitely be back!

Feels super secluded but close enough to pick up anything you missed. Also really close to a tone of hikes to explore.

Great campground outside of Mt Rainier. Some sites can be very tight for camper. Pit toilets need a bit of updating. Great campground host. Good Verizon coverage.

The man hosting was extremely friendly and helpful, even lent us as axe when we needed one for firewood! We had spot #2 which was a little close to the road for our liking (we could hear large trucks that went by occasionally) - but we were right near the creek and it was otherwise lovely. Next time we'll just choose a spot a little further into the campground!

Quiet campground, some road noise. Friendly host. Creek is only assessable with campsites on it, no public access. Would stay here again.

Nice campground; didn't feel crowded even though it was full; well situated close to hiking trails, though most require a drive. Parks person who collected our fee was friendlier than many can be. Parking spots aren't huge, but had room enough for a full size truck and a car, closely parked.
