About Big Creek (gifford Pinchot National Forest, Wa)

Situated in the vicinity of majestic Mount Rainier, Big Creek is a family campground nestled among Douglas firs, hemlock, alders and maples. The lush vegetation offers plenty of privacy between sites. The sites at Big Creek form a loop, with only a handful of sites sitting along the banks of Big Creek. Open from mid-May through late September, Big Creek provides an alternative to the campgrounds at Mount Rainier National Park, which can get very crowded during the summer.

The campground messed up our reservation on their end, cutting our trip very short.

The campground was quiet in a beautiful forest. There was alot of room between sites for privacy. The campground host was really helpful and made up for the problems we encountered with recreation.gov.

A wonderful and beautiful campground. Well attended too with plenty of shade for those hot June/July days. I can't wait to take my family back to Big Creek.

This is a great little campground. The first 6 sites are all on the creek, but 1-3 have very little privacy. We stayed in site #13, one of the smallest ones in the campground. We had to makeshift a spot for a second tent and got stung by the overgrown nettles, blackberry and salmonberry in the process. We'll book #10 if we come back, as it's much bigger. The grounds haven't been maintained since COVID. Lots of fallen trees on the trail to the creek, but once we got down there it was beautiful. Hardly any mosquitoes to speak of, just a few nats.

A very plush, quiet campgrounds. Rustic, but the bathrooms were clean. Trailhead right at the park, with Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park a few minutes away. And the park host was a great guy!
