Moss creek is SO CLOSE to ideal. There are perfect, not-too-rushing riverside spots at an elevation that doesn't get too cold at night. It just seems as if the campsite is suffering from slow, tortuous neglect. The water pumps near sites 8/9/10 have been out for a long time. OK, sure, you have to wlk for water, fine! At least the vault toilet is well maintained.
The vault toilet near sites 13/14 has been out since last year, but at least the water pumps work! And last year, they brought in porta potties, so site 14 - which is the best one - at least had servicable toilets.
But those portas haven't been services since SEPTEMBER 2020. They were shockingly, incredibly unsanitary. Whatever contamination closed the vault toilets, over there, these slowly overflowing portas are worse.
The camp host was nonexistent, of course.
It's a real shame, as these sites are family-friendly, picturesque and awesome otherwise.
I really hope someone puts a little care into Moss Creek, because it's a magic place that's worth the effort.

The hosts are VERY nice and as always the campground was quiet and lovely. I'm very glad we went before the fires ruined the air quality.

A great campground close to White Salmon and activities along HWY 14 and over to Hood River. The hosts were kind and helpful. It's great to be right next to a little creek (not deep enough for swimming but you can wade along the shore and the host even recommended it for a 5 minute float from one end of the campground to the end). Had 1-2 bars on AT&T service (although we did go in and out of service on the drive up to the site so helpful to download the map ahead of time). One of the river campsites is closed due to fallen trees and that restroom was actually a portapotty. On the recreation.gov site, sites 15 and 16 are flipped from how the campground is actually set up. Site 15 is next to site 17, (17 is the camp host). Sites 1-4 (approx) are very sunny, while other sites are more shaded (we were in site 15 and it was very shaded, although good since it was so hot). Bathrooms were very clean and it felt like a very safe place to be camping during the pandemic. Would return!

Great spot! Hosts were very friendly. The spot we were in was really sunny and dusty, but still enjoyed it. Water was freezing, so swimming wasn't really happening. We will be back for sure.
It would be nice if the state would spend a little money fixing up the bathrooms, they are falling apart. Very clean though.

Loved this campground! It was our first time camping in the Gifford Pinchot forest and we can't wait to come back.

We didn't particularly like the camp sight we were in but the camp ground and the creek was gorgeous! We would have appreciated the water spigots to work in our area. This should be repaired. We are going to try camping again at the other camp sights in the area. We need a camp sight much more friendly to older adults with some light disabilities. And dog friendly. Thank you and we will return to one of the camp sites next summer!

{"text"=>"Camping here for the weekend was definitely needed.\n\nSwift Lake is amazing and the water feels great to swim in.\n\n$7.00 over night parking and took a boat across the lake to camp across the lake. We ended up camping practically across from the dock, only downfall to our nice area was a lot of bumble bees.\n\nThe actual campsite is very well maintained and full of a great staff.\n\nIf you have a boat, i recommend taking it here to swift lake and finding all the awesome hidden coves to swim in.", "languageCode"=>"en"}
