What Guests Are Saying
Kachess campground offers a beautiful, scenic environment with spacious and private campsites, making it a popular choice for many visitors. Numerous reviews praise the cleanliness of the campground and the friendliness of the staff, along with access to hiking trails and the lake. However, some concerns were raised about sanitation issues in the vault toilets, low lake water levels, and a lack of enforcement of campfire bans, which detracted from the overall experience for some campers.

Our trip was on June 9-11th,
It wasn't the best weather and still hasn't been hot enough to enjoy the beautiful waters out there but on the sunny day it was out there, it was amazing and sooooo beautiful! It'd go back again if life wasn't so busy. The water was very clear and blue, the bathrooms were clean (it's outdoors, i wouldn't expect it t be the nicest), & it was very much a great experience. All sites are a bit close to each other but I think it's good if you're going with a big group of family members!
I would go back if i could and swim.

Great site. Room for 2 large tents, parking spot barely wide enough for 2 cars, but deep enough that you could park a 3rd crossways in front of the 2. Neat woodsy area behind the campsite. There's a trail behind that that goes along the back of the campsites that lead to the lake. Other people do walk along it, but it doesn't go through your campsite. Barely notice it. Water is right there, but the bathroom is a bit of a hike. Pretty private. Only gripe doesn't have anything to do with the campsite, just entitled campers that "reserve" the best part of the public beach for their entire stay by putting up canopies and telling anyone who got there first that it's "their campsite". There were a lot of them, but still takes some nerve.

Kachess is lovely. The campsites are well placed, you have lots of room and can park 3+ cars at most campsites. There is a lot of privacy in many sites. The bathrooms are not that great. There are flushing toilets in most, but some of the sinks and urinals dont work. Instead of fixing them, they just put a bag over them. The walls and stall walls and doors are filthy dirty. It's definitely not a bathroom to brush your teeth in or anything like that. just get in and out as quick as possible.
The lake water had receded a bit but we could still access the water fine for swimming and getting paddleboards in the water. They do NOT let you check in early. If you arrive at 11am, wait in a line of cars until 2pm. Sites have firepits and this campground was the only place to have a fire in the whole area. no mosquitos. Overall, it was a good experience.

Have camped Lake Kachess several times, always a wonderful time. Unfortunately flush toilets were down for repair, but all adapted!

Stayed in Gale creek. It was nice and quiet and the lake is beautiful! The campground needs improvement! The site pads are uneven and in poor shape. Fallen trees everywhere . The bathrooms are so, so, bad. Dirty with bugs and stinky. No place to wash hands. There was only 1 water faucet at the far end of the campground.
A dirty place to camp in the trees.

We had a great long weekend camping at Lake Kachess. The facilities were great with one exception. The check-in process at the booth is poorly organized and while our site was likely sitting empty, we had arrived at 1:20pm to go camping for the weekend. We were told we could not enter the campground until 2pm and needed to wait. Fine, we can play, but the waiting zone quickly was overrun with others attempting to enter and traffic built with folks blocking the road in/out and tempers of others began to raise. It felt unnecessary. Otherwise, outside of sunny summer Saturday, the campground was very quiet and relaxed.

Direction signage after registration booth should show campsites so you know which way to turn.
