Our camp host, (Doug, I think) was amazing. He was very helpful. He kept the bathrooms spic n span. It was very hot while we were there and there was very minimal smell in the bathrooms. There were No Flies in the women's. I was impressed. He drove around checking up on things multiple times a day. We bought firewood from him and he drove it over to our campsite so we didn't have to unhook our truck or carry it. We forgot a WA map and he lent us his without blinking when took a drive to Paradise to see Mt Rainier. His dog is very well behaved and beautiful.
Our site, #19, was listed online as handicap site. We got there and it was not. This was ok for us, yet they do need to change it online.
Last year's fire damage was only on the other side of the river.
The excessive amount of down trees across the river along the trails made it difficult for hiking. Our medium size dog had to be lifted over many of them as they were so big. Hopefully someone will be able to help cut a path through them. We used to go on long hikes there and just couldn't this year.
Military jets fly over head once or twice a day. So fun to see how low they get at times.
Overall we really enjoyed our time there. Thank you to the camp host again for doing an amazing job.
Things to do..play along the river, some sites have river access which is great.
There is a nice bridge that crosses the river to a short walk to the Sodas Springs. My husband is a science teacher and believes everyone should see the wonders of the earth like this.
Bumping Lake is just up the road. You will need your pass,so make sure you get it from the camp host.
There is horse back riding down the road a bit. Call ahead for thier hours.
Mt Rainier has lost if hiking. Top of Chinook pass has Tipsoo lake with nice walk around it.

Hands down best this campground has been in the past 5 years - the water was on, the bathrooms (ok, pit toilets) were spotless, and the campground host was extremely friendly and available to help anytime.

Nice little camp ground with trees and water running through. The camp host, Doug, is really what makes it an excellent place to stay. He was friendly, knowledgeable and made sure everything was clean and as it should be. I've never seen cleaner vault toilets. We stayed in site 3 and enjoyed being so close to the water. Sites 3 and 4 don't have any vegetation at all between them though so they might be better off for 2 groups wanting to mingle.
Site 4 is right next to the pump house so if you are a light sleeper, hearing it turn on and off at night might be a bit of a problem but for anyone used to city noise or with a pair of earplugs (or in an RV) it shouldn't be an issue. One side note is that the water is technically potable but definitely has a strong mineral taste. Reminded me of iodine water when out backpacking.

This is a beautiful campground. Most spots had good tree coverage, there were plenty of water spigots, and the facilities were in good condition and clean. The main road was easy to get through even in a low clearance vehicle.
