It was a very hot week during our visit. The thick wooded campground kept us shaded and cool. The trees also provided lots of privacy. The campground and vaulted toilets were kept clean. The camp host was very helpful. I had read stories of this campground being a loud party place; that was not our experience. We spent 4 weekdays of peace & quiet with nice, polite campers. We would definitely camp at La Wis Wis again!

La Wis Wis is a scenic campground located along the Cowlitz River. The camp hosts were gracious and helpful. The campsite (Loop A-20) was roomy and clean. The campers were reasonably well behaved.
It was relatively easy to reserve our campsites.

Friendly camp host, and quiet neighbors made this a relaxing stay. The river was a treat, even with the ankle-biting rocky bank, and the short hikes to the falls was worth the effort. The only downside was the bathroom situation, which was just appalling. Every porta potty was I would go back for the gorgeous surroundings and relaxing ambiance.

The campground and surrounding area is gorgeous. However, the bathroom situation is bad. Like, really bad. Our site was near a bathroom with flushing toilets in loop A. Those toilets were out of order for the duration of our camping trip, and there were portapotties available instead. I’m not exaggerating, those portapotties were a health hazard and absolutely disgusting. To the point where it felt risky to even sit down on them. I saw children emerge from them crying. They were so close to overflowing that I opted to walk to different loop to use their outhouses that were mercifully not quite as full. I would guess that they bathrooms in the loops further away from the river were in better shape. In summary, this was a beautiful place to stay, but the bathroom situation was horrifying.
