What Guests Are Saying
Takhlakh Lake Campground offers stunning scenery, with breathtaking views of Mt. Adams and a well-maintained lake. The hiking trails and campground facilities are generally clean, and the camp hosts receive praise for their friendliness and diligence. However, issues such as a lack of potable water, occasional overcrowding, and recent management challenges can detract from the experience, especially during peak times.

Never going back. Was incredibly noisy and people had no respect for other guests. Whether someone chopping wood at midnight or getting woken by screaming kids at 5 AM. Overall a very unpleasant experience. If you want peace, relaxation and people being thoughtful, do not come here.

Very clean campground, not crowded when we were there. Beautiful view of Mt Adams! Quiet. I hope the weather is clear if you go there. Very nice quiet lake.

Beautiful location, remote, and great campground.

The campground was nice, clean, and well maintained, and the lake is beautiful and clean. We stayed at the far end of the loop where the sites are large and relatively private. The lake is great for kayaks and fishing. Several nice hikes in the area. On the second day, we got caught in a massive thunderstorm, which is unusual for the beginning of August. No fault of anyone, just a freak act of nature.

The lake was very clear and the view of the mountain was truly awesome. You can see it's reflection upon the lake. The camp sites had good spacing and plenty of tent spots with plenty of trees for hammocks. A majority of the camps had direct access to the lake. We all really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back again.

Beautiful location on the lake with great Mt Adams views. Bring your own drinking water, though.

I gave this place 4 stars because I don’t want it to come up on 5 star searches and become overwhelmed by people. It is my very favorite campground. Camp hosts are friendly and helpful, they sell water and wood. There is no cell phone service, no drones. Another few things to note: this campground is for serious, “dry” campers. This means there is no running water for drinking, no real plumbing, the toilets are vault toilets. Bring your own water for hand washing, dishwashing and especially drinking. Bring firewood, you cannot hurt the trees and cut firewood in the forest. You will not be able to bring a large motor home or trailer easily into this campground without doing damage to the environment and your recreational vehicle. Generators are frowned upon, the sound echos across the lake and you will get nasty glances from your neighbors. Lots of great fishing areas along the edges. The trail around the lake is legendary. Post card worthy photos of Mt Adams and its glorious glaciers. The lake isn’t horribly cold considering it’s likely got glacier water in it somewhere. The campsites themselves are great for tent camping, small campers and people that want to try and practice camping almost off the grid.
