What Guests Are Saying
Takhlakh Lake Campground offers stunning scenery, with breathtaking views of Mt. Adams and a well-maintained lake. The hiking trails and campground facilities are generally clean, and the camp hosts receive praise for their friendliness and diligence. However, issues such as a lack of potable water, occasional overcrowding, and recent management challenges can detract from the experience, especially during peak times.

Beautiful lake with views of Mt. Adams. Spacious campsites and helpful camp hosts. There is a trail around the lake as well as other hiking trails in the area. We would definitely come back to this location.

My daughter & I love Mt Adams & the Gifford Pinchot - Taklakh Lake is situated right off the NW flank of Adams & is so beautiful with the mountain looming above the lake. The closest lake to Mt Adams I believe. Great campsites, swimming & paddling, fishing, & nice hikes in the area. Make sure to get up to the TakhTakh lava flow! Such a great getaway - very few folks in Portland know of Taklakh Lake. We experienced a massive lightning storm there this past summer so be prepared for some unpredictable weather even in summer!

Beautiful Campsite right on the lake. I have been coming here for over 25 years. Lake Takhlakh is a ver6 special place.

Beautiful campground. We only ended up staying for one night due to an overwhelming amount of flies around during out stay. I am aware that this is always a possibility when camping, but our site was just down the path from the vault toilet which most likely contributed to the issue. No amount of pest repellent would touch the issue.
Would consider trying to stay again at a site further from the vault toilet.

This is a great campsite and you won’t regret paying it a visit! It’s very remote but that is one of the best aspects of it. Bring floaties for the lake!

waited a long time to finally stay at this campground. It is a beautiful area, but sites are close together and relatively open. Had a magnificent storm at night which was fantastic....but the listening to the several sites of people blaring music until 3am in between thunderclaps was not a great way to end our 7 day road trip. Also had their dog off-leash, begging for food in our campsite and riling up other dogs nearby who were on-leash. Now that rangers don't exist in campgrounds, I guess it can't be helped.

We had 3 very nice large campsites- 2 doubles and one single. Some of the other sites around the campground are quite small though so make sure you read the descriptions carefully. Although our sites weren't bordering the lake it was an easy walk for lake access. The campground hosts were very friendly and attentive. You really can't beat the scenery here, but it is quite a drive off of the beaten path and you're pretty far from cell service. The only downside to our visit was that there were a LOT of mosquitoes. Get ready to be constantly applying insect repellent day and night.

This place kicks ass! Quiet lake side site that we had mid week. Almost had the place to ourselves after a big rain storm and many tent campers got rained out. Bring peanuts for the chipmunks. The camp hosts were very nice and attentive. It's pretty far from anything so bring everything you need.
