What Guests Are Saying

Lower Falls Campground offers spacious, shaded campsites that provide a sense of privacy and are well-maintained. Campers appreciate the close proximity to the stunning Lower Falls and numerous hiking trails, contributing to a peaceful and scenic experience. However, some improvements are needed, such as additional water stations and better restroom facilities, as well as addressing overcrowding during peak times.

We absolutely loved our camping experience at Lower Falls. It was quiet, clean and a beautiful spot that had a fire pit, ample parking and space to ourselves. We realized that driving time really made it more of a 2 night destination from where we were driving from, and we had only 1 night planned for our trip. Next time we will allot for 2 days to camp and explore.
The only thing that made our trip a little bit confusing was that there seemed to be a lack of signage that helped direct visitors to the lower/middle/upper falls on the foot trails (particularly at the lower falls). Ourselves and other individuals we encountered on the trails, either day hikers or campers, seemed to be a bit lost when trying to find the lower falls specifically, and the ambiguity left for a lot of possibilities for getting lost or not being confident on the trails. We were able to ask a ranger for directions to clarify which direction to turn on the trail to the lower falls, but noticed that other people had turned back while on the same trail without knowing if they were going in the right direction.
Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back!

Easy access to the Lewis River from most campsites (1-5 min walk). The river level in late July was deep enough to swim in spots and wade in other areas. Heavy day use in spite of COVID closure of day use parking areas. Toilets were cleaned daily.

Love this place cannot wait to come back. I felt bad that the parking lot was closed to hikers but enjoyed the tranquility it brought to a normally extremely populated trail.
