This is a mix of first come first serve. However you can book a camp site in advance. This is what I did, however when I got there someone was in the space I had reservations on. There was no attendant to try and resolve the situation. Luckily there was another Camping spot above that we just went to. I could see this being problematic on busier weekends.
Overall a great place to camp and love the area.

My family and I come here at least every other year on Columbus Day weekend since they were small children. Now they are in their 40s and with two small grandsons (8 & 10) we took a trip this year for old times sake and loved it😊

Love the isolation of location. Staff on site was very accommodating and pleasant to deal with. Have camped here many times thru the years. One of my favorite sites in United States. Thanks for maintaining this campground to a high standard.

Great facilities! Really nice and quiet and spread out from the other camp sites. Convenient bathroom locations. The only thing that would’ve made it better was if the firewood up for purchase was covered because it was all wet when we got there. Regardless, I’d stay again!

Given other reviews, I thought this would be a more remote area. There is no service and it is at the top of a mountain but it seems to be a popular campground. The sites were closer together than expected and the guests were pretty loud so we didn't get the quiet weekend we had expected but still had a really great time! We chose the walk-in sites to be off the road a bit. The hiking nearby was great! Given the distance from where we live, I don't see us returning but if we did, I'd probably just stay at a hike in spot on the trails as every trail had ample camping spots and water.

From Riverton, WV, take U.S. Route 33 south 2 miles to Briery Gap Road (County Road 33/4). Turn right onto Briery Gap Road. Go 2 miles to Forest Road 112, turn right and continue for 13.5 miles. Turn right on Forest Road 1. The campground is 1/2 mile on the right.
From Elkins, WV, take U.S. Route 33 to State Route 29, which is 1 mile west of Harman. Turn right onto SR 29, go south 18.6 miles and tum left onto Forest Road 1. Follow FR 1 for 2.5 miles.
