What Guests Are Saying
Battle Run Campground is highly praised for its beautiful location by Summersville Lake, well-maintained sites, and friendly staff, making it a favorite for many campers. Guests enjoy the recreational opportunities and serene environment, often returning year after year. However, some reviews mention issues with reservation modifications, staff communication, and the condition of the bathhouses, suggesting room for improvement in customer service and facility maintenance.

The 5 pm check in should be included in your email. It’s not standard. And yes, it’s in the details but not everyone checks them every time. We make four months worth of reservations a year and you are the only one with this time. It’s a great spot and sites are well laid out. It’s pretty clear that you don’t adhere to site maximums for number of people and vehicles but we were there on a holiday weekend so we figure that was a factor. Loved the lake and trails and location but the campground is more crowded than we prefer. Hope this is helpful. Gate staff was awesome.

The camp sites are big and spacious and most have a gravel area for parking the camper and picnic table along with the fire-it. There are some nice little local shops, antique stores, ice cream and several beautiful views of the lake on your way in. The girl at the check in window was super friendly and very hospitable. The bath houses and restrooms are always very clean and neat. (The water pressure in some are not as good as others but over all great bath houses) The lake is pretty accessible from most camp sites and the lake is beautiful.
I only wish dogs were allowed, although that has not stopped us from returning each year that we can.

We love Battle Run. It is our favorite West Virginia summer get away. I may be the oddball but I love the fact that only service dogs are allowed. We do not like campgrounds with dogs. We love riding our bikes on the trails and boating on the lake. Nighttime campfires are the best!

It was a pleasant trip kids were mostly in school so no bicycles to look out for. Rained everyday though but that was Mother Nature.
