What Guests Are Saying
Luna White Deer Campground offers spacious, clean sites with a serene atmosphere, making it a favorite for families and nature lovers alike. The campground features beautiful hiking trails and a peaceful lake ideal for kayaking and swimming, though it can get crowded during peak times. Some visitors noted limited amenities and challenges finding firewood, but overall, the campground is highly regarded for its natural beauty and the quality of experiences it provides.

The Luna-White Deer Lake Campground is a true gem! There is a wonderful swimming beach on White Deer Lake for both kids and adults to enjoy- and great hiking trails around both lakes (that have such eco-system diversity)! One minute you are walking amidst a Hemlock and red pine forest with a pine needle floor, and the next you are in a grassy covered more deciduous tree forest. Breathtaking and lovely! The lakes have clear water, sandy shoreline, and are deep!
The campsites with their fire pits and picnic tables are situated and spaced nicely in order to provide privacy. So many of the lakeside sites provide wonderful access to the lakes; including wonderful places to hang hammocks, park a kayak or a paddle board for quick entry onto the lakes. I have visited this campground in the past to hike it's trails, and now I have had the pleasure of staying several nights in the campground. My Interagency Senior Pass was accepted at this campground which made for a very affordable stay with our grandchildren (4 and 7 years old). We swam at the beach;, we hiked around both lakes; we ate and made some- mores at the campfire of our beautiful campsite; we hung our hammock and paddled our paddleboard with grandchildren aboard. We will definitely visit this beautiful Campground again in the future. We made beautiful memories here. You should check out this place and make some of your own!!!

I was not sure if the water out of the hand pump was good to drink. I boiled it before making coffee.

Nice quite lakes. No motors allowed and clear water make them great for snorkeling. Campground is spacious and quite. However, with the exception of drinking water and pit toilets there are no amenities. The nearest town is about 15 miles away. Very poor cell service.

I spent 4 nights at Luna White Deer campground in a very peaceful forested campsite. I chose site 25 for its elevation and site of both lakes allowing countless calls from loons in both lake areas. The fire ring is set very high and uneven making the fires hard to start. It’s unfortunate with all the downed trees that firewood was not available. I suppose I could have cut and split from the downed trees but that wasn’t what the time was for. It took an almost 1 hour drive towards Eagle River to find wood for purchase. I would like to see a policy such as other states providing some access. All good, don’t let that stop you. Enjoy nature!

Please don’t come here and crowd it up - it’s heaven on earth and I’m hoping to come back! Just kidding, this camp ground really is something special, the two lakes are awesome. Luna Lake for monster bass and White Deer for sandy beach swims and regular sized bass. The camp hosts are always kind and friendly. The park rangers come by regularly and are polite and friendly so don’t get any ideas to come and get rowdy. Really a gem in Wisconsin :))

Arrived the morning of Memorial Day, and had a choice of a couple of non-reservable Lake Front Campsites, so I switched to one from my inland reserved site. Campsite was clean, Campground host was in evidence, as were occasional NFS personnel. The beach didn't have buoys out and was an excellent spot for launching Kayak on White Deer. The drinking water was the usual iron-rich variety staining my Igloo vessel but that was to be expected. The pit toilets were clean and not too odorous, although the current regimen appears to be to keep the door and seat closed, whereas in the past the seat was closed, the door left open with a rock, which I thought attracted fewer flying insects. Water levels were high due to record snowfalls, and clarity was outstanding. Needed liberal amounts of personal bugs spray as the Mosquitos were abundant. Loons were visible and audible.
