Grant River Campground offers spacious, well-maintained sites with stunning views of the Mississippi River and beautiful sunsets. Visitors appreciate the cleanliness of the facilities and the friendly atmosphere, as well as the proximity to charming towns like Potosi. However, the frequent train traffic nearby can be disruptive for some campers, especially at night.

Good time, except for all the trains.

We love camping at Grant River Recreation Area. Everything is well maintained as far as campsites and restrooms. Wondering why weeds clog the boat landing though. No possible for those with outboard motors to launch there and get into the river.

Always a great place to stay. Grounds were well kept, even after a recent storm. Restroom facilities were always clean. Showers had nice hot water and good water pressure. Check in easy.

The facilities, beautiful surroundings, campsite, and area are all 5 star. One of the prettiest we've been to. However- the train and railroad which is right next to the campground and so loud and frequent, it literally would shake our camper and the horn blast went on all night, at least every 1-2 hrs. So if you are a heavy sleeper, enjoy.

We had site 51 facing the Mississippi. Great sunset views. The concrete pad is nice to have with a fire ring built right into it. The picnic tables are study and easy to clean. The park has many mature trees and is clean and well kept. Looking forward to our next camping trip here.

Not your fault, but I have never seen that many trains go through in my life, and I grew up there! I always enjoyed the trains in the past, but this is just too much! Not sure I will be coming back to see you again.
I guess the trains would not be so bad if they did not have to blow the air horns that much! It is a gated crossing, anyone dumb enough to go around the gates gets a darwin award .
The park itself was wonderful, as were the rangers and staff, every thing well taken care of !

What a fantastic spot on our route! Nice clean level sites. Everything worked as expected. Helpful checkin and staff. Calm, quiet vibe in the campground. Nice view of the river, but no real access with the shoreline (which is totally fine - glad to let it go natural!). Some pesky flies in the campsite, but eh, that's camping! We will definitely visit again and mark this as a nice overnight spot.

I loved the campground, but that train blowing the whistle at 2 am was way to much. I understand it needs to blow it. I feel it was excessive at 2 am.. Kinda ruined the whole stay. Is it a game for the engineers? It sure seemed like it. Some were really laying on the horn.

Although the view on the river was beautiful, the lilies and other plant growth made the river impossible to fish. Additionally, the train track runs directly through the campground, loudly interrupting the peace and quiet of the campground multiple times a day, beginning early in the morning. The site (68) was also not shaded which impacted our ability to enjoy the day, as it was incredibly sunny. Despite the above inconveniences, the area is extremely well maintained and taken care of and we still had a beautiful time at the park.

People behind me complained about noise but they were up til 2am being super loud and I was only talking around 2:30 because my dog became super sick in my tent and I was talking to my boyfriend. The park ranger came the next day to talk to me and I told him the whole story and he talked to them and they moved thankfully. Never had an issue previously and it was packed then!
