What Guests Are Saying
Bald Mountain Campground is praised for its cleanliness, friendly hosts, and beautiful surroundings, including abundant wildlife and scenic trails like Trail 122. However, some sites are closely packed without adequate separation, and there were issues with water availability and rule enforcement. Site is always clean prior to arrival and this visit a good bit of firewood was left onsite. The Bald Mountain CG is relatively limited in sites which is why I stay there.

Our site was adjoining to another site without any separation (not a tree or a picnic table or anything). It was uncomfortable to be so tightly packed and I was unaware that this would be the case when I made the reservation.

don't like that there is grazing all around that area even up to the highest peaks in that sensitive high altitude region. cattle came thru the campground at one point due to a hole in the fence. otherwise very nice stay.

We had a mixed experience here. Upon arrival, some of the rules seemed to change, and we were told the place was owned by an individual—later we found out it’s actually owned by the National Forest and managed by a third-party company. At one point, we were scolded for having ATVs, but instead of speaking directly with an adult, the hosts chose to approach a teenager at 10 p.m. while he was climbing into his tent. It turned out they had been given incorrect information, and we weren’t actually breaking any rules.
That said, by the end of our stay the host was very kind, and once it was clear we weren’t causing any problems, we were left alone to enjoy our time. My advice is to know the rules ahead of time, stand your ground politely, and things will usually work out.
The area itself is absolutely beautiful I’ve never seen more moose in my life! Trail 122 was a highlight; it’s a perfect beginner trail full of wildlife and great for ATVs, dirt bikes, small trucks, or Jeeps.

Quiet and clean! Restrooms were clean and not smelly. Campground host does an excellent job even though they are not on site at this campground.

Be warned. Some of these sites are not accurately represented on the map. For example: sites 11 and 12 are shared and would be very difficult to for 2 rigs in, not to mention how awkward it would be to share with a stranger.

Nice place, great scenery. A small elk herd hanging around. The only bad thing was the web page said water available but alas no handles on the pumps.

The only reason for four stars instead of five was that the water hydrants had not been turned on yet so getting water was a problem. The camp host was very friendly and did a nice job.
We went to the Medicine Wheel archeological site. We saw wild horses in Bighorn Canyon and took a boat tour of the canyon. We had a great family reunion.
