We loved Signal Mountain Campground—especially the guy who checked us in and was helpful throughout our stay. The showers, laundry, and restaurant were all nice. It was a great basecamp for exploring GTNP and YNP.

The water run-off from the road went directly through the middle of the site (site 21). The run-off was from snow melt, but rain water would do the same due to the lack of proper drainage from the road. The tent pad was clear of snow and a path to the pad was shoveled, BUT the water running through the side made the area around the picnic table and path to pad a muddy mess. The water run-off also filled the fire pit with water. Road drainage must be fixed so that water run-off does not go directly through the site.

Area is beautiful and facilities are clean and well kept. Thought I had reserved a site with electricity but apparently not, so careful when booking. Frustrating to see a tent at an electric site (not using power) and having to pull out generator at mine which is disturbing for all. Wish they had more sites with electricity - there may be as we were there early season and not all sites were open. Overall a great trip and we’ll be back.
