The campsite was in a beautiful pine and meadow area. During the night I heard elk calls. There was no raised gravel platform to set up your tent, so it is up to you to locate a flat spot. There was no water available, which is not always the case in National Forest campgrounds. The entire campground was barely being used while only 9 miles north the Grand Canyon campgrounds were full.

Campground was great. Site nicely spaced. Clean bathrooms, friendly and helpful hosts. Only complaint was $28 to book online but only $20 to pay in person. Highly recommend 10X

This is a beautiful campground conveniently located close to the small town of Tusayan and the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. We arrived on Wednesday before the labor day weekend and found the campground mostly empty. There are two new loops with gravel roads and sites. By the weekend there were many more campers, mostly tent campers. For RV owners be careful to see if your unit will fit in a back in site. Our travel trailer measures 32' and fit well but I had to park my truck a bit sideways to completely fit the site. The pull throughs were much larger and next time will choose one of those sites.
The campground hosts were most informative and friendly. They told us the yellowjacket infestation made camping intolerable in July up to about mid August and many people had to leave however another host who has been coming here for 14 years had never seen this over the top infestation. We did see yellowjackets and did not cook outside as to not attract them but it was not bad.
There is water available but is hauled in so RV's are not allowed to fill there tanks but water is available to meet daily needs. There is no dump station. Generator hours are from 7am until 9pm. We used a portable tote tank for our gray and black water and a 30 gallon water bladder. At Mather campground inside Grand Canyon NP you can use the dump station and fill up with fresh water.
You are 2 miles south of Tusayan, 4 miles from the NP entrance station, and about 10 miles from the actual rim of the canyon.
Besides the natural beauty and convenient location, we enjoyed the star gazing at night, dark so you could see the milky way! We did not see elk but heard them bugling at night.
The camp hosts said most tent campers were foreign visitors. The group camp facilities are new and beautiful with great lighting.
This is now our go to campground when visiting the Grand Canyon. We camped at Trailer Village inside the park with hookups but you are crammed in close and wow, $75 a night now.

Nice campground, well maintained, hosts were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and "the cleanest bathrooms we've ever seen". Sites generally well spaced with good shade. Great location for visiting the Grand Canyon. Just a few minutes drive to Tusayan, and the entrance to the canyon. Reasonable cell service on Verizon and AT&T. Only downsides were some highway noise, and the centralized trash and water (far enough away that we drove each time, rather than walking). We had some yellow jackets, but hosts relocated a trap near our site. Problem solved!

Bathrooms are very clean but as expected dumping to the hole along with some flies watching when you are in action. There is no well pumps unlike other camp grounds. Make sure bring enough water with you. However, it might me a single place to fill up your empty bottles but you need to drive a little. I am assuming this because I have seen two person walked some where with empty gallon bottles and they returned with filled bottles in 40 minutes. Almost all trees are ponderosa and they are not dense. So, expect some sun light hitting you. Best part is the parking spot to your camp ground. It’s well done built. Also, every camp spot has at least one flat clean surface to set your tent. I have seen many RV campers. Generator allowed until 9pm. After that it’s pretty chilly anyway. Ohh also it is near airport and road. Expect airplane and car noise.

Campground was clean and well kept. Restrooms were also very clean and didn’t have the usual stinky smell. Would definitely recommend to others and will be back for another stay.
