We have stayed there twice and have really enjoyed our stays. We are coming back again in March and staying for a week. We usually camp down by the water, but this camp area has so much to offer. We take our bikes and ride them all around the campgrounds. The camp hosts are very pleasant and professional.

The views of this campground are unbeatable. But, please be warned, the double campsites canNOT fit 6 vehicles. We brought two trucks, a camper, and a boat, so technically four vehicles, and we could not fit. I assumed a double site meant double the space, but it really means two picnic tables instead of one and just a tiny bit more space. Not enough space to bring two toys, which is unfortunate since this is a campground on a LAKE. The other really annoying piece of this is that you cannot reserve two spots next to each other. So, I don't really mind paying for two spots, but I can't reserve them beside each other (one for the truck/camper and one for the truck/boat). It's a pretty silly scenario, and it really should be changed. At least if you reserve a double site, give the single site beside it for free.

I was surprised that there were not more people camping during our time there. We kind of had the place to ourselves. The others that were there were very friendly. The park host was very friendly and talked with us about the area. We were able to go to the cliff dwellings and due to a cancelation, I was able to get on the list for the upper cliff dwellings. It was an excellent hike and one I highly recommend. The park Ranger leading the hike was very knowledgeable and made it very interesting.

We stayed in Coyote loop, where sites have good views of the lake and there’s a boat ramp. It was maybe 1/4 full on weekends. Clean and quiet. The restroom buildings and shower building were clean. During winter there’s no limit on days you can stay and you can run your generator any time (which is fine because it’s not crowded or noisy). We plan to stay here again.

The cleanest campground I’ve seen in quite sometime. That’s saying something considering the general attitude of today’s campers. Camp host Mr David Iosom was very visible and quite pleasant at every interaction with my wife and I. Our site was extremely well kept and the toilets were exceptional. It was obvious that he is dedicated to the responsibilities of his position. I’m looking forward to choosing Windyhill for another memorable outing.

There is no hot water in the showers at
Coati campground, so I went across the road to the other open campground and the hot water didn't work there either.
