The weather was not good at all. It had nothing to do with the campground.

Very happy with our visit to Tomkins Bend; campground is well maintained, bathrooms/showers were clean. The signage for locating our site was a tad confusing.

Love this campground! It was our first visit. Family with 4 elementary age boys. Perfect for my boys! Hiking, biking, fishing, kayaking in the little cove area by campsite, play ground…. So fun for all

My experience at Tompkins Bend was fine. My complaint is the Corps of Engineers refusal to accept the fact that many older Americans are not well versed in the use of computers. The fact that “booth workers” and “first come/first come” non -reservable camp sites have been totally eliminated is shameful. You are NOT working for the best interest the American people, but for the best interest of the Corps of Engineers. For those reasons I will NO longer stay at Corps sites but use State Parks which still understand the true meaning customer service!

The park was very nice and our site was great as far as the view and location. The only issue we really had was even though the site says it will take a 50' trailer it was impossible for us to back into it because of the trees. Luckily I had two spots booked for us and another couple so we were able to swap sites with them to get our rig in, we originally had 61D and ended up in 63D. The other issue I had was tree growth on the roads in and out rubbing the sides of out camper and the tight turns needed. We have a 42' fifth wheel with a long bed 3500 crew which made some of the turns quite exciting. We will be back but I will make sure we are in a easier accessed spot in the future.
