Tompkins Bend provided plenty for my grandchildren to do. They fished, rode their bikes, enjoyed the playground but their absolute favorite was the long trail.

Very beautiful & peaceful location on Lake Ouachita. We saw deer near our tent. #30. Actually, they’re all over the campground. We watched them from 7:30ishPM to around 1AM when we decided to call it a night. There’s lots of gray squirrels, too. We also saw a beautiful fox cross from the wooded area near Shangri-La to down by the water near the marina one morning a little after sunrise. Bathrooms were cleaned & stocked. Showers were hot. Watch out for the big, daddy long-legged spiders on the walls of restrooms & showers. They’re harmless. We just shooed them away. We very much enjoyed our 2 night stay & plan on returning. For anyone who loves wildlife, a crystal clear lake with mountains around it, this is for you!

Maybe I didn't check it out carefully enough. The roads were narrow with sharp turns and low hanging tree branches. The site was very narrow with hardly any room to maneuver my 40 ft 5th wheel.

We had a wonderful time! The campground is beautiful - almost all of the sites have gorgeous water front access. The only 2 cons were 1) that the tent sites did not have tent pads- no flat area for tents and 2) many of the RVs left bright lights on all night- the light pollution was unnecessary and disappointing.

We love that Tompkins Bend is close to Mt. Ida but also close to Hot Springs, but also just down the way is. Shangri-la and quaint little restaurant that takes you back in time!! We love their food! The campground is kept so nice and clean! It will be our regular camping ground for many years to come!

BEST TAILGATING IN ARKANSAS! Park 2 RVs on just one pad for months on end, with no limits on number of guests or cars (nobody cares). So invite all your pals; they can come and go all night long (nobody cares). Just park your overflow on the pad and the grass of your neighbor’s campsite, even after midnight (the Host won’t say a word, and those nasty campers will depart early the next day, leaving more room for your posse!). Bring your biggest smoker, and a rick of outside wood (nobody cares). Hang a 300-W flood 20 ft up in the trees for a true stadium-lot experience (nobody cares). If you forgot your TV, you can still hear all the games from anywhere in the grounds, all weekend long (nobody cares). Also a great site to just store your unoccupied RV (nobody cares). Note: The comments above are the impressions of this guest, and may not reflect official USACE policy.

My spouse and I had a wonderful stay. The camp site was well kept and the restroom at our area was very clean.

Beautiful campground. We loved the woods. Horrible speed bump coming in and exiting the entrance gate, way too harsh; even seems like it could damage vehicles. It is tight going to get large RV's back through to some of the sites and tight getting into some. However we loved the woods and peacefulness of the campground. If you have a fishing boat it would be a great place. I do not understand their policy of a 6:00 pm check-in time because if they abide by that a lot of people will be finding their site and setting up in the dark for a good portion of the year. We called and no one was in our site so they allowed us to arrive early.
