What Guests Are Saying
Wishon Bass Lake campground offers a great location near the lake and amenities, making it a favorite for many families who return annually. Campers appreciate the clean restrooms and beautiful views, with some sites being spacious enough for larger groups. However, issues such as rude camp hosts, noise disturbances, unlevel campsites, and lack of bear boxes have been noted, impacting the overall experience for some visitors.

For starters, the road to this location isn’t as bad as some people say it is. It’s fully paved with minor twists and turns. The campsite itself is absolutely gorgeous. Out of all other sites in the area, I feel this one is the best for your money. It’s close to the lake & there’s a little shop/restaurant near by to get food & rent boats. Cell service for Verizon & AT&T is pretty good. I do feel the bathrooms could be a little updated, the road in the campground could use some work & the landscaping around the sites could be cleaned up a little. The picnic tables could be adjusted a little (ours was pretty wobbly) and the maintenance crew could have a little better job at cleaning the sites in between guests. The camp host, Victoria, was great. Very nice and informative. My girlfriend and I definitely plan on returning to this location in the future.

The road in was as winding as it was bumpy, then it got narrow and bumpier. But we were warned and out trailer is just 16 feet long. The campground is easy to miss as it is called Bass Lake Wishon on line and Wishon Point on the sign. We had to ask about registration as it is a 6 mile drive to the Ranger Station. On the website it’s called the General Store and no distance is given. Our first campsite sloped a great deal but the host, Vicki, gave us a wonderful flat site in a more convenient area. The flush toilets and sinks were a plus, and conveniently spaced. The campground covers a small peninsula and is always close to the water. Abundant shade from oaks, laurels, manzanita and pines keeps the sun off. A very enjoyable stay—thanks Vicki.

Really enjoyed our visit. Campers all respected the 10pm quiet time. And the camp host was the sweetest people. The camp is clean and well kept. Can't wait to visit again!

The lake is beautiful the beaches are amazing. Great fishing and good boat rentals from miller’s.
My biggest complaint is the absence of bear lockers. Having to lock everything up in the car every night, and still having bears come through campsites because neighbors don’t lock things up in their cars is a pain and scares the kids.
If bears are known to be a problem they need to install bear lockers.
Also be prepared for yellow jackets but that’s jsut nature !

We had such a wonderful time at Wishon Point. At first, it was difficult to know where to check in. We went to the "guest check in" listed on the recreation.gov site but it was closed. The email also didn't work and no one ever picked up the phone (we called about 10 times before giving up). That said, the fabulous Camp Host, Vicki, welcomed us upon our arrival and made it very easy to check in. Our spaces were AMAZING! We had 37, 38, 28, 29, 25 and 26. In the upper camps (28/29) we had three families of deer that travelled through each day AND were very privileged to also see a teenage black bear. He was getting into the trash, so please make sure to keep all of your food items in the car or INSIDE the dumpster. We were walking distance from Miller's Landing. We rented a pontoon boat and everything went very well. The cafe was DELICIOUS! We were also walking distance from the water and had an amazing day lake side with food, music and our shade structures. I definitely recommend this location to all who are looking for a relaxing time in nature!
