We arrived on time! The cabin was clean and inviting! All the instructions were very clear and we settled in nicely. We had a bit of a problem starting the cooler. The pump started right away, but we had to restart the fan a few times to get it going. Once it started , the cabin was comfortable. A very hot week- end. We spent most of our time in the river, kayaking and snorkeling! The stove worked perfectly. The beds were comfortable. We had our own bedding. Thank you for allowing us a nice stay along the Kings River! I use to live up there in an off grid cabin. We were happy to visit the river once again.

The cabin is absolutely GORGEOUS!! However, my fair rating comes from the fact that my group and I had to leave in the middle of the night after hearing several rounds of gunshots that started around 11pm, and continued as we were leaving by midnight. Terrifying. I was later informed by the ranger that there is a nearby gun range, so after learning that I would return, but it was a scary experience nonetheless. Just be warned!

Had a great time. Cabin was perfect. Beds nice and comfy. I'll be making reservations for spring and fall next year. Only stayed one night to see how it was and wished we tayed longer. Loved the flag and putting it up and down at dawn. Thanks

We enjoyed this nicely furnished historic log cabin and especially appreciated the swamp cooler during a couple hot summer days. The remote location seems like a long drive, but it’s a short walk to the Kings River and perfect for swimming or fishing. The interior of the two bedroom cabin provides a convenient full kitchen and a living room with ample books and games. We found this NPS Ranger Station much cleaner and less rustic overall compared to similar cabins we’ve rented.

We had a wonderful 5 days at camp 41/2. We celebrated my 65th birthday with hikes, bike rides and wandering the river's edge. We had glorious views of the poppy covered hills and the sounds of the river. The cabin is very comfortable and stocked with most everything we needed. There were no trays to make ice. Fortunately we brought some and left them for the next guests.
