What Guests Are Saying
Eshom Campground is praised for its beautiful and serene location, with clean facilities, a helpful host, and enjoyable amenities like a nearby creek and meadow for stargazing. Many guests appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the opportunity for family bonding in a secluded environment. However, accessing the campground can be challenging, requiring a rugged vehicle due to rough roads, and it is relatively far from major attractions like Sequoia Park. Some visitors experienced issues with smoke from prescribed burns during their stay.

Short dirt road drive to redwood canyon was well worth it. Ask the campground attendant for directions. I have a SUV that easily made it. Driving into the rest of Sequoia was not necessary. There is also some hiking from the campground. The trip would have been complete with only doing those two things.

This was our second time staying at Eshom and both times were awesome. The site was clean and pre raked so we didn't have to clear sticks and rocks before putting our tents down. There is drinkable water from the spigots, friendly camp hosts, and beautiful weather. We stayed at double site 24 both times, and personally think it is the best spot. The space is not along the main road so its pretty private, as cars and people walking do not pass going to the bathroom or entering or exiting. It's only a few feet from the river/creek which made it easy for the kids to go play in the water and easy for us adults to supervise from our hammocks. Pretty decent tree coverage, however, if they cut anymore trees from around that space it will loose that great feature. The site is a good distance from the other spots, a short walking distance to the bathrooms and water spigots.
The only negative about our most recent trip was that the bathroom closest to us was closed so the short walk turned into a 15min round trip when taking the kids potty, and all of the dumpsters were full to the point where the containers were not able to close so there was trash on the ground. Thankfully there were no bears that came in.
Overall I would definitely go back, same spot of course!

It is a fantastic campground in a very isolated part outside the park. We enjoyed playing in the stream next to our camping area. I would recommend bringing an axe and a hand saw for getting wood from the near by forest. You can access the park via a small forest service road, but you must have a 4 wheel drive vehicle. There is a group of sequoia trees along the route that not many every get to see. But it is a very bumpy road and you will not make it in a car. We will be back when the snow melts.
