What Guests Are Saying
Eshom Campground is praised for its beautiful and serene location, with clean facilities, a helpful host, and enjoyable amenities like a nearby creek and meadow for stargazing. Many guests appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the opportunity for family bonding in a secluded environment. However, accessing the campground can be challenging, requiring a rugged vehicle due to rough roads, and it is relatively far from major attractions like Sequoia Park. Some visitors experienced issues with smoke from prescribed burns during their stay.

Great campground! Clean bathrooms and campsites. The road up to the parks is super rough, but my SUV crossover handled it just fine. The road takes you up to General’s Hwy, between Kings Canyon and Sequoia.
To General’s Hwy: 6mi, 40min
To Cedar Grove: 40mi, 2 hr (with stops)
To Hume Lake: 13mi, 50min
I only used a little more than a half tank of gas going to and from Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon and driving up through Sequoia then down to Three Rivers.

The camp host is excellent. She goes above and beyond and does her job well. The company hired to pick up the trash needs some change in training or personnel. We overheard a worker saying picking up trash after an animal had knocked over the bin wasn't his responsibility and they left without actually taking all the trash.

This was a fabulous campground! We were on a river and it was so quiet and peaceful. The road out was fun and not easy with our 25' trailer but that would not deter us from going back. We were able to get to the entrance to the parks through a 4x4 back road with our Tundra, it took 30 min.

Restrooms are a disgrace! Our site (#24) was very well located, private and quiet. I loved being next to the little creek so the kids could play in it. Plenty of shade during the day unfortunately there was not campfire allowed. Vault restrooms are horrible, not well kept. There was a sign that it stated that they've got cleaned 3 times a day and during our stay I only saw the host cleaning it once a day. They are gross!!! The host has a dog with her and not on a leash, while I was walking down to the restroom my mother and I almost got attacked by the dog. The host would only say "it's OK, it won't bite" but he was very aggressive.

The campground itself is nice - if you're planning to just hang out around there. The forest is lovely, the stream runs right along the campground, looks like there'd be wild berries later in the year, and the vault bathrooms are the cleanest/least smelly I've ever used. Not that it really mattered, but with Verizon we even had two bars of service. We did overall have a good stay in the campground. Do be prepared for a long windy road up to the campground and the roads around the campground itself are dirt. No bear boxes or bear trashcans at the campground which seemed strange to us. The biggest drag about this campground and why I'm only giving 3 stars was how far away it was from Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks. As the crow flies it's really close, it's in the Sequoia National Forest and it even shows up on the NP park maps. BUT it's literally at the end of the road in the national forest with no direct connecting road into the parks. If you wanted to take the dirt forest road (probably best with 4x4) from the campground to the parks, it was a windy 1 hour drive to the nearest entrance to the parks. If you preferred the paved road, it was 1.5-2 hours drive into the parks. It just wasn't a great base for exploring the national parks which is what we were there to do.
