What Guests Are Saying
Dogwood Campground is consistently praised for its cleanliness, beautiful natural surroundings, and well-maintained facilities, including flush toilets and hot showers. Campers appreciate the friendly and helpful staff, as well as the serene and private atmosphere provided by spacious campsites nestled among trees. While some visitors noted minor inconveniences, such as the price increase for firewood and challenges with tent placement, the overall experience remains highly rated, making it a popular choice for families and repeat visitors.

The campsite is very well maintained and a beautiful setting. However our site was overrun with yellowjackets - hundreds of them - making it impossible to cook until after sunset. We had to go to a local hardware store to buy traps and we must have killed 3-400 in under 24 hours. We would not return.

Great place to relax! Lots of families and kids having fun. Just about all of the campsites had lots of trees. Each campsite has a fire ring, picnic table and a bear box for your food and anything with a scent. Each site has a flat, rock-free area to pitch your tent. The campsites are spread far enough apart so you don't feel like you're camping on top of your neighbor. Other than firewood which is only sold at the entrance kiosk, there is no "store" to buy ice or other things. There is an easy, very shaded hiking trail that goes around the entire campground as well as a short nature trail. Once you're on the trail you'll come across many forks in the trail and no signs to tell you which way to go. It is easy to take the wrong turn-off. The bathrooms and showers are kept very clean. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Had a great 4 nights tent camping at Dogwood in August 2022. Super clean facilities, hot/free showers with changing stalls, plenty of fire wood for $8 a bundle, and friendly staff abound. EVERY day staff where cleaning restrooms and showers and trash pickup was witnessed 2x in four days (I could have done without the 8 AM dumpster lifts, but gotta happen sometime.) Bear lockers, iron fire rings, and longest picnic tables I've ever seen provided ample space and safe storage for our campsite cooking adventures. Yellow jackets were pesky, but it WAS the height of the bee season, after all. No stings, just annoying when the food came out before dark. NOTE: a landslide/sinkhole construction repair is underway on Rt 18 - Rim of the World Highway BUT clear detour signs will get you back around to Rt 18 after a short go around on Rt 189 through Twin Peaks/Lake Gregory's village. On GPS map it looks like you can't get through, but rest assured---you can via the detour. It was a nice change of scenery actually; found some cool places to eat. Lake Arrowhead is nearby with grocery store and dining, laundromat, thrift and hardware stores for those forgotten items, and more. A couple of trailheads in the campground, but we didn't explore this trip. We are definitely returning!

This campground is always immaculately kept, and we come here a lot. We had some pretty loud music in a nearby site this time, unfortunately. Not ideal for enjoying wind in the boughs and birdsong.
